The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has publicly confirmed that Eddie Mutwe aka Edward Ssebufu, the personal bodyguard to National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine was abducted by the army and is under custody.

Muhoozi made the revelation via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that Mutwe is being detained by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), though he did not specify under what charges or legal framework the detention was made.
Mutwe had been reported missing since Sunday evening after he was allegedly abducted by unidentified individuals in both civilian clothes and military fatigues from Kiwango trading centre in Mukono Municipality.
“He is in my basement. Learning Runyankore. You [Bobi Wine] are next!” Muhoozi wrote in one of several posts, some of which appeared to mock Mutwe and made references to tribal affiliations, language lessons, and physical appearance.
“I captured NUP’s military commander like a grasshopper (Nsenene). If they keep on provoking us, we shall discipline them even more.”
Mutwe was kidnapped by men dressed in civilian wear and military fatigue on Sunday evening at Kiwango trading centre, Goma Division, Mukono municipality. Mutwe and others had held a meeting at Namweezi village, a stone’s throw from Kiwango trading centre, from where he was captured.
Kyagulanyi later took to his social media accounts and demanded his immediate release.
“Eddie is looking very smart these days. The boys have tuned him well. He salutes Mzee’s picture every day before breakfast…I can’t release Eddie now. It will be unfair to me and him. He is learning Runyankore and we are both training for Kabobi,” Muhoozi said.
“If you see Eddie’s head now he looks like an egg. Totally clean. The beards were the first thing the boys removed. After he finished crying and urinating,” added Muhoozi who further threatened to castrate Mutwe.
“Next is Kabobi! I have never joked in my life. I don’t know why people think my tweets are jokes.”
The development comes shortly after Muhoozi’s recent restructuring within the UPDF’s intelligence wing, where Maj Gen James Birungi was replaced by Maj Gen Richard Otto as head of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI).

Fellow Ugandans, there you have it. What else do we need to know, which we don’t know or [which Kyagulanyi claims that he is making us jump], in order to understand that we’re under a militant rule and elections won’t change that. M7 owns Uganda outright and his family is at liberty to do as they wish.
M7’s family holds 3 key strategic govt institutions, which are pivotal to ownership of our country, (a) M7-executive, (b)Muhoozi M7-commander of militants and (c) Janet M7-minister of education, which consume over half of the national budget. So, as the commander of militants and in charge of our education system, Muhoozi and Janet M7 are co-owners of Uganda.
Good enough, Muhoozi has confessed that he is holding Mutwe, however, so many Ugandans are missing on the account of militant abductions and others are rotting in torture chambers.
“Correct Kabobi! What will you do about it? Coward,” posted Muhoozi in response to Kyagulanyi, who recently declared his intention to challenge his father [M7], for the next bogus 2026 elections!
Muhoozi further posted, ““Next is Kabobi! I have never joked in my life. I don’t know why people think my tweets are jokes.”
However, Kyagulanyi wants us to believe that, “people power-our power.” Really?
Don’t get me wrong, as Ugandans, we do have the power, however, Kyagulanyi is using people power-our power as a myth and conduit to accumulate wealth and with clear knowledge that elections will never and/or won’t bring change to Uganda.
Loved your comment. How do you think Ugandans could get out of this problem? When I look at it I see only violence being the solution as in the people picking up guns. Maybe mass demonstrations/ Mass defiance?
Paulos, a combination of all the above is necessary if we’re to liberate our nation out of the jars of autocracy. One thing is certain; elections are not the answer but they rother legitimize autocracy, violence, corruption that stinks to high heaven, nepotism, tribalism and militantism. It’s enshrined therein our constitution that we’re entitled to use any means under the sun to bring change to our nation in such circumstances we’re currently under. Certainly, no one would like to use violence as we have always done in all previous change of govts. That is exactly why M7 has managed to rule us for 4 decades and still counting. M7 used the gun, corruption and violence to capture our state, and is using the gun, corruption, nepotism, tribalism and violence to maintain his power.
What we need to do and/or must do is, to completely abandon bogus and violent elections. That’ll unite us under one common cause. That is, to bring change to Uganda. That’ll motivate us to come up with all possible ways to liberate our nation, which includes but not limited to, “people picking guns, maybe mass demonstrations/mass defiance. The point is, we must act as one. We must exercise people power.
For me, its naive to think that all people will ever be together on a certain cause. Even if NUP boycotted the elections, so many others will stand. My point is, if in your opinion think what others are doing is wrong then start on the other front you think is okay. Certainly many others will join you. Otherwise blaming others everytime as if Uganda is for them only raises serious concerns as to whether you mean what you preach.
Heney, don’t reinvent the wheel. I, neither, can’t ever reinvent the wheel. Kyagulanyi has done it and so many others before him.
To borrow Musoke’s words, “Sad indeed.. Very sad turn of events. How and why did we get here?”
We got here because of greed. Starting with M7, who has an insatiable greed, a power maniac and using the gun, corruption, nepotism, tribalism and violence as his way of governing, is where it initially started. In other words, ever since we got our independence, Uganda has never had a peaceful transition of power, and M7 has been in almost each and every violent transition of power, and arrogantly proud of turning our nation upside down. So, people have joined politics in the name of bringing change to Uganda and countless political parties have been formed. So, there’s nothing new I could ever reinvent, which bring me to Kyagulanyi, who has become the issue and/or the center of discussion, and why he is blamed for “desperation of hope” for change.
Kyagulanyi came with hope and the right theme, “people power-our power.” He attracted each and everyone despite political, tribe or religious creed, especially the youth. This time, Ugandans believed and hoped that Kyagulanyi was the revolutionary we were waiting for all along. Kembe wa! Just like others, greed is what motivated him. Here is why. He came after Besigye and FDC, the leading opposition figure and party at the time, instead of M7 and NRM. Once he achieved his goal and making money, we are [now] in the worst position than before, to the extent that Muhoozi even brags for abducting and torturing innocent Ugandans with impunity.
What is Kyagulanyi doing, focusing on challenging M7 in 2026 bogus and violent elections.
Henry, the more I read your comments the more you sound like a know individual with fugazi multiple names. Talking about being naive, who is naive? M7, as the owner of Uganda unites NRM either by buying them or by force. There’re so many NRM members who don’t agree with M7. However, M7 pays them, including some of the opposition [if not all] to get his way. On the other hand, we, the opposition can’t unite on anything. Not even on a sole candidate, even if that is not also the answer. For example, we can’t even say that in such a place, so and so would be a strong candidate, so let that candidate from UPC or DP or FDC or CP stand so that we could win it from NRM. Certainly, that is not the answer either, because M7 rigs elections, however, it would be a star for a dialogue for unity.
The most important issue currently is, the abduction, torturing and killing of innocent Ugandans. Besigye and Haji Lutale were kidnapped from Kenya and are being detained. Muhoozi kidinapped Mutwe and is bragging for torturing him. Over 3,000 innocent Ugandans are rotting in torture chambers since Nov 2020!
However, you, Henry and Kyagulanyi are focusing of going to war [bogus and violent elections]. This is beyond being naive. It’s pure greed.
Henry, the love of money is what motivates you, NUP, Kyagulanyi and others.
With all due respect to your opinion, i find it unbecoming to always attack Kyagulanyi (NUP) for what they have done or not done.
You know what, Uganda is for everyone Ugandan. I would suggest where you see a missing peace in the current “opposition”, that you personally come out and help get us out of the mess we are in otherwise, you will always just lament and attack those that have put their life on the line.
Lastly, in your opinion, what do u want NUP to do in the circumstances? Pick up guns? Boycott elections? Resign and get back home? or what?
Henry, I hear you loud and clear. However, Kyagulanyi is uncompromising when it comes to bogus and violent elections. He is hell bent on challenging M7 in order to maintain his position as the leading opposition figure and NUP as the leading opposition party in parliament.
The question is, what have we benefited in Kyagulanyi’s strategy? He also insists that, in participating in bogus and violent elections, mbu, he is making us jump!
Again, who hasn’t jumped?
So, I won’t relent until Kyagulanyi abandons bogus and violent elections, which are continuing dividing us along political parties, because everyone is looking for a win and make money, which win no one will ever achieve but M7, his family, relatives, tribesmen and militants.
Henry, you’re absolutely right, “where you see a missing peace in the current “opposition,” that you personally come out and help get us out of the mess we are in.” That’s exactly what I’m doing. The problem is, Kyagulanyi came after Besigye and FDC instead of M7 and NRM. Yes, Besigye made a big mistake by continuing to participate in bogus and violent elections, yet he clearly knew that change would never come through bogus and violent elections.
What has Kyagulanyi done? Do the same thing and expect different results! That’s why we’re in a complete mess! Kyagulanyi is focusing on winning each and every bogus and violent elections, including but not limited to, the coming 2026 bogus and violent elections! In the mean time, not only that innocent Ugandans who were abducted in Nov 2020 are rotting in torture chambers and others are still missing, but now Muhoozi is even bragging for abducting and torturing Mutwe! As if that isn’t enough, Muhoozi has even threatened that Kyagulanyi is next. However, Kyagulanyi is focusing on challenging M7 in the next 2026 bogus and violent elections!
Henry, how could we come out of this mess, yet elections are the reason why Mutwe and others are being abducted are tortured? No one is safe in the current Uganda.
Raj Ruparelia, son to Sudir Rupareria [who is working for M7], has just burnt to ashes in an accident on Entebe expressway. That is mainly due to pure service delivery, lack of ambulances and autocratic M7’s rule which concentrating on looting our nation naked. So, we’re in a mess already.
Do you mean to tell me that the next 2026 bogus and violent elections are the answer for bringing the change that we need and deserve?
Why make it comfortable for M7, his family, relatives, tribesmen and militants, and keep owning Uganda to only and financially benefit those in power?
We must say, enough is enough, M7 must go. Now. If it means, “Pick up guns? Boycott elections? Resign and get back home?” So be it. Because, doing all the above equals to mess. Unfortunately, there’s nothing easy and good things always come from pain. Good things will happen through pain of abandoning bogus and violent election.
Yes, if Kyagulanyi is not willing to abandon bogus and violent elections, let him “resign and get back home,” or get out of the way.
Remase,
1st, i appreciate you for taking the time to always give your opinion because i have followed you for sometime now commenting on many issues.
2ndly, I want you to appreciate that its next to impossible to align your opinion to everyone else. Ofcourse you raise pertinent issues here but dont think that both Dr. Besigye and now Kyagulanyi are fools to engage in polls everyone knows are a playing ground for Mr. Museveni!
In my opinion, i blame not them but us Ugandans (Me and you) for failure to read their signals and come out to fight for our victory (Most think its kyagulanyi or Besigye’s case). You earlier talked about mass demonstrations but i can tell you, that will never happen without a focal point (uniting factor) and to me, an election is that factor that both those men wish to galvanize to rally you and me but to their disappointment, we are still reluctant to fight for the just cause. Like one artist (bobi wine) sung “they want to go to heaven but dont want to die!” Many people want to “sort the mess” but not willing to pay the price!
3rdly. My major point of disagreement with you is when you attack Kyagulanyi and group that they are after money! Really? People are dying left and centre but you accuse them of that? Certainly, some politicians come in politics for that, and you cannot avoid that altogether. But give credit to people like Kyagulanyi who had it all to live a life millions only dream a quarter of but came out to add a voice.
4th, like i said earlier, you are not going to ever get everyone behind you to start what you think is right. If Kyagulanyi and group dont think picking up weapons is the answer now, no one is stopping any other from starting on that front. Mind you, Mr. Museveni started with 27 guns. So, my friend, i guess u can give it a try.
Lastly, i strongly pity those unconcerned people who think that whatever is happening in Uganda is non of their business as long as for them are busy “eating” and or working. Let me leave them my favorite quote from one of the writers (Philosophers).
It goes
“First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me”
Henry, forgive my french, however, opinions are assholes. You have yours, and I have mine. It’s wrong for you to expect that everyone must agree with you in order for you to express your opinion. So, it’s okay if you don’t agree with me. That can’t [and never will] stop me from expressing my opinion simply because you or anyone else won’t agree with me.
Thanks for following me, nevertheless.
Henry, pay attention to details. You said that you follow me. I’m consistent and won’t change about what you call “attack Kyagulanyi.”
Well, if criticism is called an attack, the, that is your opinion. However, I’ll continue to criticise Kyagulanyi because he came to challege M7 with a view that there’s democracy in Uganda and our problem is/was Besigye who stood against M7 4 times and lost.
Once again, Besigye was wrong to continue challenging M7 with clear knowledge that bogus and violent elections will never bring change. So, I Wholeheartedly believe that Kyagulanyi and NUP are in it [elections] for money.
You’re absolutely right, “People are dying left and centre,” because the bogus and violent elections. So, why does Kyagulanyi and NUP passionately love bogus and violent elections? Because of love of money!
Also, it’s not true that simply because I’m against bogus and violent elections, that means that we should pick up arms and go to the bush like M7 did. Not at all. We have countless non violent means to bring change without violence. For example, we [those of us who are yearning for change] must stay home and let those who believe in bogus and violent elections go to the polls. To me, that would make a big difference if the [true] opposition don’t participate in bogus and violent elections. That’ll be the beginning of uniting us under one common cause. Not only does bogus and violent elections breeds killing, torturing and persecution of innocent Ugandans, but they also keep us divided! That’s where M7 needs us to be. He kills, tortures and persecutes us during bogus and violent elections, and further keeps us divided!
So, what benefit do we get from bogus and violent elections? It’s only those in power [M7, Kyagulanyi and others] who make money from taxpayers money.
Henry, you, M7, Kyagulanyi and all those who believe in bogus and violent elections are ruthless and motivated by love of money. This is what Semujju said when he was asked to advise journalists how to prepare covering the next elections, “I told them you write your will, because this country is run by Muhoozi M7. Write your will, we’re going for war.”
This is your opinion, “If Kyagulanyi and group dont think picking up weapons is the answer now, no one is stopping any other from starting on that front. Mind you, Mr. Museveni started with 27 guns. So, my friend, i guess u can give it a try.”
Henry, you’re the only person who can eat your cake and also have it!
You’re telling me that M7 is killing innocent people left, right and center, however, you and Kyagulanyi are urging us to go to war [bogus and violent elections], right?
I agree with you on this!
M7 can only be removed militarily!
Do something orherthan blaming Kyagulanyi all the time.Show us how it should be done.
Musoke, we have a double-edged sword here. On one side we have M7 the oppressor, and on the other side we have Kyagulanyi the leading opposition figure. M7 and Kyagulanyi believe in bogus and violent elections. To make matters worse, Kyagulanyi believes that there’s democracy in Uganda and he is determined to show us [through bogus and violent elections] that democracy works, because he is making money!
So, M7 is oppressing us and Kyagulanyi, as the leading opposition figure, has made matters worse by making us completely lose hope in sight.
That’s why Muhoozi has the balls to abduct innocent Ugandans and torture them with impunity!
Musoke, if you have forgotten, let me remind you. Thisis what Kyagulanyi told us, “Go get IDs. Go and vote. Leave the rest to me. He further said, the problem is not M7 but Besigye who stood against M7 4 times and lost and then blamed it on lack of democracy. Kyagulanyi assured us that there’s democracy and he’ll show us that it works. To this date Kyagulanyi believes that there’s democracy in Uganda and he is urging the youth to join politics and stand in bogus and violent elections.
Now, you’re wondering why does [emindi] or the whistle smells saliva?
Kyagulanyi is blowing the whistle for us to keep going to bogus and violent elections, which are designed to legitimize autocracy. Kyagualanyi clearly knows that he can’t and never will win M7 neither NUP will ever make any meaningful change or representation of the people in parliament.
That is why Muhoozi is said, “Correct Kabobi! What will you do about it? Coward.”
During the Labor Day celebrations, M7 thanked his son and said, I also want to thank the chief of militant force for bringing the new spirit in the militants to fight corruption, which was beginning to show up in the militants and emphasizing professionalism and to ensure the militants are lethal and strong” Abducting, killing, torturing and persecuting innocent people is what M7 calls professionalism assuring the militants are lethal and strong. And what does Kyagulanyi do? He has declared his intention to challenge his father [M7], for the next bogus and violent 2026 elections!
Musoke, that’s why Kyagulanyi’s whistle smells saliva.
I am curious to know why this is being presented as Kyagulanyi’s issue. Gen Muhoozi has dared you, and you attack Kyagulanyi instead. So, who is the coward here? Fortunately, Ugandans are not stupid. They are discerning and can see through the tactics government agents like you are playing here.
Sad indeed.. Very sad turn of events. How and why did we get here?
The fool thinks he will ugandans,
he is a refugee, not even a munyankole like he claims, he is narwanda n we are working around the clock to send them where they belong, abo sibawanno
In other words Sseguya, the whole truth, noting but the truth; except being a Munyarwnda 3-11, how else could Muhoozi brag and refer to Gen Kagame as his Uncle?
A picture tells a thousand words! Mutwe looks torture and threatened! Muhoozi is torturing and threatening Ugandans with impunity. For 4 decades, M7, his family, relatives and militants are killing, torturing and persecuting whoever has a divergent political view with impunity.
Muhoozi is not afraid of anything and has the balls to post Mutwe’s threatened picture in order to intimidate all of us who are yearning for change. Mutwe has been held over 48 hours without being brought to court and/or charged for any crime.
Over 3,000 political prisoners are rotting in torture chambers, and others missing are missing on account of the militants who captured out state. However, Kyagulanyi is leading us to believe that bogus elections are the answer for change!
Mbu, atubuusa, right? Who hasn’t jumped yet, that we’re a lawless country and under a militant rule. Mbu, there’s democracy in Uganda and Kyagulanyi is determined to show us that it works, right?
Who can any longer doubt that Kainerugaba is a psychopath?
This guy needs highly specialized medical help before it is too late: He has turned into another Hitler and to think that there are people with brains fighting for him to be the next President of Uganda shows you how many sick people we have in this country. Keep Kyagulanyi out of this he s not the one who brought up this guy and trained. We are all in this together as Ugandans to save our country from such psychopaths who think they were born to torture others and will live for ever and ever
The Hague should get him or we should drag him there. He is a living danger to any living thing that crosses his path even to himself. what I read in this article made me sick to the core and he is relishing it all.
Like father like son; who in his/her right state of mind can still deny that: Gen Muhoozi has learnt the Art of violence and/or taking the law into his hands from his father, our 84-year-old problem of Africa?
At this rate of arrogance and open-day and night criminal impunity by non other the son of a sitting president and the CDF; what else should stop the rest of Ugandans from taking the law into their hands, to abduct, dehumanize and threaten to castrate the Muhoozi of this country?
In other words, Mr. M7, his son and the UPDF are after ANTI UGANDANS. In recent time on all the road Mr. M7 passes, who does see an anti Ugandans/people president?
During the Kawempe North Bi-erection, who did not see the ANTI UGANDANS/people defense force (Anti people Defense Force [APDF])?
Forgive my Italian, Ugandans are being screwed big time!
For the Maj Gen Richard Otto of this country, watch out!
Do not think you have been promoted for the better, NYET. You have been set up to do the dirty work of a diabolic regime.
Like the late OMALA (RIP) and not forgetting the Ofwono Opondo of this country (used to sanitize a bad regime); on your DEATHBED you will only live to regret and apologize to your victims of unlawful orders, injustice, arbitrary arrest, abduction, torture and cold-blood murders!
And once again, it will become a full-circle stereotype blame-game on the savagery (baboons) of the useful and idiotic Northerners.
So now when is this sort of gloating going to end since this government captured state power during 1986. Is it going to go on until Jesus comes back to earth? Henry you have a point. “Even if NUP boycotted the elections, so many others will stand. ” For boycotting Uganda national elections the Kingdom state of Buganda is not advising NUP not to attend to national elections. NUP have all the opportunities in the world to share national elections with the rest of the other regions of Uganda. NRM has at least spent over 30 trillions shillings to process and develop democracy in Uganda, since it came to state power during 1986. Some of these regions indeed have benefited much from such an astronomical government expenditure of the tax payers money! NUP by electioneering into the rest of these regions can win over 200 Members of Parliament other than wasting much of its political campaign efforts in the central region of Uganda anciently known as Buganda.
Guys just stay away from politics and enjoy freedom in Uganda today for better future
To sum it all up, this guy behaves like a toddler who is looking for recognition. He has no self confidence and wants to look great and be feared. I hope our maker has different plans.
