High court judge Amos Kwizera

Entebbe police is holding Charles Mayanja, a real estate dealer, following his fallout with Bushenyi High court judge Amos Kwizera over land located in Kasanje, Wakiso district.

According to one of the police investigating officers, Mayanja has been detained for failure to clear payment to the judge for a kibanja that the latter had bought at Shs 90 million. Mayanja refused to clear the judge because the sale agreement of the kibanja he purports to have bought is fake.

It all started when the judge bought a kibanja at Gayaza-Nangombe in Kasanje, Wakiso, from a one John Ssemugooma. Mayanja, who is the registered title holder, protested to the judge that he was not consulted as the landlord before the sale.

According to available records, the two later reached an agreement for Mayanja to compensate the judge to back off from his land. As a commitment, Mayanja paid an initial fee of Shs 20 million to the judge’s account in Standard Chartered bank.

However, things took a twist when Mayanja, upon seeing the 1996 kibanja agreement that Ssemugooma used to sell the land to the judge, noted one major irregularity.

John Ssuuna, the LC-I secretary who witnessed the agreement, signed off with his phone number 0712962165. Mayanja argued the agreement is fake because in 1996, it was impossible for someone to have a 10-digit phone number.

So, he refused to pay the Shs 55 million balance to the judge, but the latter insisted that they had a contract which he has to fulfill. Efforts to reach out to judge Kwizera were futile by press time. It remains to be seen whether Mayanja will be arraigned in court.

  1. In 1996 there was only Celtel whose code was 075 and UTL landlines which started with 04…. depending on the town. So where does 0712 come from? Even UTL’s Mango which start after year 2000 had 071 without the 2.
And by the way in 1996 cellphones (and for that matter Celtel) were so expensive that it were a handful of rich folks that afforded them. So this LC 1 fellow must have been doing really well

  2. Funny, Rwandese Museveni took over Uganda, awarded himself/family citizenship & ownership of Uganda but this doesn’t bother Ugandans who just fight & lock one another in prison… in the zone that doesn’t bellong to them any more, WHY?

Where is that just ONE National/Common Leader, so so needed to sing Ugandans to UNITE to block & stop Museveni & family?

Why will 40 years of enslavement to the Rwandese family not be long enough & Ugandans just fight one another, knowing as long as they maintain the inhuman divisive tribalistic system, they will never be owners of the zone formed by their tribal lands again & govern as they wish?

Why are tribal leaders still in posts, thus Ugandans POWERLESS tribally divided slaves of Rwandese Museveni & just ensure they remain so for good, when Uganda is formed by their tribal lands!
