According to Charles Ssebambulidde, the public relations officer Traffic Directorate, the driver of the Prado that was destined for Kampala, attempted to overtake three vehicles in a row leading to a head-on collision with an oncoming bus that was moving in the opposite direction.
 
Ssebambulidde identifies the deceased as Robert Ssuubi Irumba, a resident of Wakiso, Moses Mukwaya from Njeru town council in Buikwe district and Corporal Ronald Twebembeire, a police officer who was driving the Prado. The bodies of the other victims are yet to be identified.

He says the injured victim, who is yet to be identified, is admitted at Kiryandongo hospital. The bodies of the deceased are lying at Kiryandongo hospital mortuary. According to police, although the bus veered off the road, none of the passengers on board was injured.
