MultiChoice Uganda has launched a new range of 7-day subscription packages for both DStv and GOtv customers under the exciting campaign dubbed ‘Ka Weekie’.
The initiative is designed to cater to the evolving needs of Ugandan viewers by offering them affordable, short-term access to premium content without the commitment of a full month’s subscription.
The ‘Ka Weekie’ campaign introduces greater flexibility into the pay-TV space, recognizing that not all customers operate on a monthly income cycle. With the new weekly options, subscribers can continue to enjoy their favourite shows, sports, and movies at a fraction of the cost, and for a shorter period that fits their schedules and budgets.
Speaking at the launch, Colin Asiimwe, head of marketing at MultiChoice Uganda, described the new packages as a response to real customer needs.
“This new initiative reflects our understanding of how our customers’ lives are structured. It’s also a reflection of a business attuned to customer feedback. We hope these new packages will drive catalytic growth while delighting our customers with the flexibility to watch what they want, when they want,” Asiimwe said.
For DStv customers, the available 7-day packages include, DStv Compact Shs 37,000, DStv Family Shs 22,000, DStv Access Shs 14,000 and DStv Lumba at Shs 5,000.
On the GOtv side, six different 7-day packages have been introduced including GOtv Supa Plus at 37,000, GOtv Supa Shs 22,000, GOtv Max Shs 17,000, GOtv Plus Shs 11,000, GOtv Value Shs 7,000 and GOtv Lite Shs 5,00.
The Ka Weekie campaign aligns with current economic realities, where many Ugandans earn on a weekly or even daily basis. It also speaks to the growing need for content consumption on demand and within tighter budget constraints.
“This isn’t just about pricing. It’s about relevance. Whether you’re away for a short while or managing a tight budget, ‘Ka Weekie’ lets you stay entertained without overspending,” Asiimwe emphasized.
According to Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and communications manager at MultiChoice Uganda, the Ka Weekie initiative is a continuation of MultiChoice’s broader mission to put the customer first.
“With ‘Ka Weekie’, we’re ensuring that entertainment remains accessible and budget-friendly. It’s all about empowering our customers to manage their viewing habits flexibly,” Jamugisa said.
He added that the launch reflects MultiChoice’s ongoing investment in innovation tailored to African markets, where traditional payment cycles may not always align with monthly billing models.
The Ka Weekie subscriptions cover a wide range of content from blockbuster movies and popular series to kids’ programming, music, lifestyle channels, and the all-important live sports coverage that many customers prioritize.

Kyakabi
That’s very good
With a Smart Tv and a wi-fi one does not need to subscribe to any pay Tv. That is the thing of the past.
What can I do
Uganda subscribers will have a good view, for sure. My plea to Multichoice extend the intiative to other viewers across the continent.
We will appreciate. Malawi waiting eagerly and patiently for the same.
This a good step in the right direction. It has never made economic sense to me to pay a monthly subscription for DStv yet we are hardly home to watch TV save for some weekends and public holidays.
It is a big waste. My ultimate wish is that DStv comes up with a setup where we only pay for what we watch just like we load data to access the internet with our phones and we control how we use it.
how do i pay for the ka weekly package using mm
Dstv is feeling the heat.
The reason as why we are using Dstv is football but subscription fee is very high.
Weekly package for compact is very high than monthly
37000×4 weeks =1480000
Ok
Introduce out daily subscription so that we can pay only during weekends .
All that amount minus Bundesliga, League 1, saud pro, UPL EEE NO NO NO NO make some changes otherwise !!
This is astrategy of stealing customers the more. How can you charge 11k for go tv plus for only 7days, yet a full month is 35k.meaning in 28days aperson has to spend 44k if you calculate per day it’s 1517sh. A full month is 47000. Stop cheating customers plz.
Smart marketing! Nothing is making it cheaper because they love the customers; it is always getting an edge to make from the customers. As they always say ” to have a great deal, you just need a fool on the other side of the table”
This is reasonable strategy. When circumstances change you have to compensate it with logical adjustments.
Stop showing the same programs over and over for example Come Dine With Me same faces for the last 3 years. Repetitive things like that is the reason I discontinued my subscription also disconnections without checking if the contract is ok or not
After paying the ka weekie compact of ugx 37000, is it possible to do a top up to compact plus.
