The Mandalorian and Grogu was initially the 4th season in a popular Disney+ franchise.

Jon Favreau (the director) was surprised when Disney told him to turn the season four scripts into a full-length film. The result is a movie that critics (63 per cent) have panned for its limited scope and stakes.

To them, Mandalorian and Grogu is an inconsequential adventure that pits Din and his infant apprentice against a criminal empire. However, audiences (89 per cent) loved it for that very reason.

Din and Grogu are not trying to save the galaxy from another Sith Lord. The pair is simply doing what they do best: hopping from planet to planet and toppling the villains and warlords they encounter.

Every Star Wars film does not have to be a life-and-death struggle between the forces of good and evil. In that regard, The Mandalorian and Grogu is a breath of fresh air. You can watch it in cinemas today.
