Christopher Onyum Okello

The High court has ruled that Christopher Okello Onyum has a case to answer over the alleged murder of four toddlers at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre.

Presiding over a special mobile court session at Ggaba Community Church, Justice Alice Komuhangi Khaukha said the prosecution had established a prima facie case. The ruling follows a two-week trial during which 17 witnesses, including parents and forensic experts, presented evidence outlining the events surrounding the April 2 killings.

“Based on the evidence adduced by the prosecution, I find that you have a case to answer,” Justice Khaukha told the accused, effectively bringing the prosecution phase of the trial to a close.

The prosecution, led by chief state attorneys Jonathan Muwaganya and Anna Kiiza, reconstructed the final moments of the four victims, Ryan Odeke, Keisha Agenorwoth Otim, Gideon Eteku and Ignatius Sseruyange.

Court heard that the suspect allegedly posed as a parent to gain entry into the daycare before attacking the children. With the court’s finding, the case now proceeds to the defence stage, where the accused is expected to respond to the charges.
