Speaker Anita Among with the Ruparelias

Speaker of parliament Anita Among has donated Shs 50 million towards the Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Free Eye Camp, a three-day medical outreach expected to benefit patients from eastern and northern Uganda.

The camp, scheduled for March 27–29 at Bukedea Teaching Hospital, is organised by the Ruparelia Foundation and will offer eye screenings, cataract surgeries and free spectacles.

Organisers said the outreach also includes a dedicated “vision fund” aimed at identifying patients with rare and complicated eye conditions from remote areas who may otherwise struggle to access specialised care. Among said part of her contribution would support this initiative.

“This is not just about numbers or spectacles,” Among said. “We want to reach people who have been blind for years and have lost hope. Rajiv’s spirit demands that we find them.”

Dr Sudhir Ruparelia said mobile clinics have already been deployed in some areas to identify and support patients in need of treatment.

“The idea is simple: help first, announce later. Some of the people we’ve already treated had been blind for over a decade,” he said.

The Ruparelia Foundation also announced that the memorial eye camp will become a biennial programme, with Kasese district expected to host the next edition. The mobile outreach clinics will continue operating in other underserved regions.

Jyotsna Ruparelia said the initiative is intended to sustain Rajiv Ruparelia’s philanthropic legacy through expanded access to eye care services.

“Sometimes, the greatest impact is the one nobody sees. This programme honours Rajiv not just in memory, but in the lives we restore every day,” she said.

    1. Dr, Batinda, Shs.50 million is pocket change for the Anita Among of a Speaker of this country. The Mother of all question is: in less than two years as Speaker, where the Hell did she get the money to build in the middle of nowhere, a TEACHING HOSPITAL; complete with equipment and staff ?

In other words, if the regime which she sycophantically serves can’t even afford to pay for Medical Interns, I am sure even God cannot perform such a Miracle.

Moreover, from professional ethical point of view: without violating the Principle of apparent conflict of interest; how in the world can a Speaker who presides of Budget allocation and/or appropriation compete (put up a brand-new a teaching hospital) with her employer (the government)?

Among is not the only one sinner, in violation of the Professional Ethical Code of Conduct! e.g., by concurrently investing and propriating in Education (Chain High Schools and University) how in the world, can Hon Dr. Chrysostom Muyingo and others; serve a Minister of State for Higher Education while at the same competing with his Employer, the government, and without the apparent conflict of interest?

In other words, who in his/her right state of mind can still deny that: these GUYS and GIRLS in Public offices who owns Private schools, universities and hospitals, will never allow for quality assurance services in government and/or taxpayers institutions, such as in Education and Health.

Can Muyingo AND others in government allow candidates in Sir Samuel Baker, Layibi, Boroboro, Mvara, Kitgum High, Gulu High, Lango College, Moyo, Tororo Girls, etc. etc.SSS candidates to out-perform his O & A-Level candidates at Seta High schools? NYET!

In other words, to use the American Greek, as well as demand our respect with menace; this country has been F**-up by the corrupt sic criminal/leadership.

We pay taxes through our noses, and they expect us to take our children to their expensive schools if they (children) stand a chance for better education.

We pay taxes through noses and they expect us, children and/or relative to go to their high-end hospital/clinic if and when we want to live or die at our own risk.
