Baoli brunch

October is a month globally renowned for its signature festivities, including Halloween, a centuries-old celebration of costumes and bonfires that is celebrated on October 31.

Oktoberfest, another famous festival renowned for beer and camaraderie, was celebrated from September 20 to October 5, 2025. As the world embraced these key and famous traditions, Kampala danced to a distinct tune, transforming the month into a continuous celebration of taste, luxury and vibrant culture.

See, rather than simply following global trends, Kampala created a narrative of bold living, meaningful enjoyment and intentional toasting. She quietly but powerfully crafted a legacy of her own, rooted in refined taste and vibrant party culture. Here is what you might have missed since mid-October.

THE TANGY TWIST AT CHOP LIFE SUNDAY WITH DON JULIO

On the last Sunday of October, Aura Lounge, a high-end spot in the uptown area of Kololo, hosted a Chop Life Sunday unlike any other.

Hosted by Don Julio, a luxury tequila, and in partnership with city socialite Sheila Gashumba alias Lil Stunner, this event brought a fresh twist to the ever-vibrant Kampala party culture.

The night was a perfect fusion of confidence and celebration where guests enjoyed ambient lighting, plush textures and a playlist that easily moved between casual conversation and dancefloor rhythms.

Here, Don Julio’s lineup of tequilas, including 1942, Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo took canter stage, thus delighting guests with refined character and smoothness that transformed ordinary cocktails into works of art.

The bartenders’ mastery turned Palomas and Margaritas into delicate balance acts of flavour and finesse, ensuring that every sip was more than just a drink.

The night’s soundtrack, curated by city DJs Hady, Litto and Queencess Kganya, amplified the atmosphere from relaxed vibes to electric energy, prompting a deeply connected crowd unified by rhythm and luxury indulgence.

BAOLI’S SUNDAY BRUNCH

October also saw Baoli restaurant host a special edition of its famous Baoli Sunday’s brunch, enriched by a collaboration with Don Julio Tequila.

Baoli restaurant, known for its sophisticated ambience, offered guests an afternoon journey through global cuisine underpinned by top-tier cocktails. Guests were greeted by sunlit interiors.

Every detail, ranging from the polished marble surfaces to the soft hum of conversation, set an elegant tone. The multi-cuisine menu was specially designed to complement Don Julio’s diverse tequila expressions.

From fresh avocado caprese and crispy coconut prawns to authentic international dishes such as Japanese sushi, Italian tagliatelle alla Bolognese, Indian fish masala curry and Ugandan specialties including Victoria Nile perch and grilled tilapia, the brunch offered a gastronomic tour in one luxurious setting.

With cocktails crafted to mirror the bright freshness of Don Julio Blanco or the deep, rich notes of Añejo and 1942, guests savoured each flavourful moment.

The soundtrack, fuelled by prominent DJs such as The City Girl UG and DJ Anslem, seamlessly moved guests from chill grooves into lively Afrobeats and dancehall, echoing the event’s refined yet festive spirit.

Indeed, Baoli’s general manager Sandeep Bugatha confirmed that their goal of offering a lavish way to close October was fully realized through this collaboration.

SILO DAYCATION: A STYLISH OCTOBER ESCAPE

Adding to this glittering lineup was the October edition of the Silo Daycation, a brunch affair known for fusing fine dining, smooth beats, and handcrafted tequila moments into one stylish package.

Held at Silo 15 in Bugolobi, this event attracted Kampala’s brunch faithful for what has arguably become the city’s favourite daytime escape. From the moment guests stepped onto the blue carpet, the ambiance was a blend of sophistication softened by ease.

The culinary spread tantalised palates early on with ceviche and tequila-infused starters, moving into hearty plates of roasted and stir-fried meats and delicate sweets, including doughnuts and croissants.

Photographs and shared moments flowed freely amid an atmosphere that balanced elegance with exuberance. Don Julio once again elevated the event with its signature tequilas, each sip marked by smooth indulgence and a smoky twist that paired perfectly with crafted cocktails such as the Margarita and Paloma.

Despite the occasional rain, spirits were high and the music curated by DJs Carsten, DJ Anslem and Crysto the DJ, and headliner Sheila Gashumba transformed the space from a relaxed brunch to a lively dance floor, blending soulful R&B, hip-hop, and the rising beats of amapiano into one continuous groove.

The Silo Daycation became a reliable moment of culinary artistry and craftsmanship, where dining and celebration merged seamlessly, and every toast marked the beginning of unforgettable memories.
