In a procedural win for dfcu bank, Ugandan property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia has been ordered by the High Court of England to surrender his mobile phone for expert forensic analysis in an ongoing legal battle involving Crane Bank Limited (CBL) and dfcu bank.

In the same ruling, the court also directed Sheena Ruparelia, wife to Jay Sakaria, the chief actuary at GoldStar Insurance Co. Ltd, to disclose materials from her personal email. The directive follows observations by Justice Paul Stanley, who noted that reports prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers Ltd (PwC) spanning over 150 pages and covering events dating back to the early 2000s raise serious concerns about the management of Crane bank.

The reports point to alleged mismanagement, including the creation of a deliberately false impression on the bank’s balance sheet, concealment of shareholder identities, diversion of bank funds, and sweetheart deals with insiders.

Crane Bank’s legal team had argued that PwC, which was commissioned by Bank of Uganda to carry out a forensic audit of Crane Bank, was not part of the globally recognized PwC network; and the PwC reports were inadmissible in court as evidence of any primary facts.

However, the court rejected both claims, clearing the way for PwC’s findings to be considered in the case. In a statement, dfcu says it has consistently maintained that the allegations against it are baseless, reiterating that it acted lawfully throughout the acquisition process of Crane Bank Limited.

  1. It is all about economic hot air to the public of the Republic of Uganda. Sudhir and the rest of his merchants have been deal dealing in all sorts of banking malpractices since this long serving government came to power 1986. One understands President Idi Amin and his presently handicupped Minister Mosses Ali paid up in dollars all these foreign merchants, using lots of Gadaffi’ smoney for them to quit this country peacefully. Now that this long serving government captured state power by force of arms up to today and nationalized the economy (1million shillings = 7000 shillings) and then denationalized it so that presently Uganda is swimming(owed) in international and national debts of over 70 trillion shillings. These so called liberators came out of the African tropical bush with nothing other than an AK47 with green gum boots and starving, they are now billionares owning banks, vast countryside lands and prime urban land, shopping malls etc. and Sudhir is one of them. How dare now he is going all round the world making appeals to international trade courts demanding every single shilling in compesation from the economic mess him and his fellow merchants have put this country in?

    1. AK-47 and green gumboots was something to sacrifice. You were just in the u.k waiting to be fed on a silver plate. To earn Power you fight for it not inherit. Stop your childish talk. All those that you have mentioned fought to be who they are. Do the struggle and leave the talking.

      1. To get power, you actually get VOTED.
        Mr. Tumusiime Denis.

We HONEST people know who actually fought not those who claimed that they fought…

Violence only brings violence in a continuous cycle.

That is the issue we are still trying to get around.
You people were enjoying PEACE in Western Uganda. Kayira and other BAGANDA were busy fighting the government ( had Museveni not joined up with Lule, he would be a historical footnote. That is why Salim Saleh was almost KILLED by “his own comrades” and was saved by Matayo Kyaligonza.
If You, Museveni’s “people” , were such good “fighters”, why was Salim Saleh almost killed ? ( You only “discard” a liability not an asset in a dire situation) Museveni was nowhere in the picture- the claim being “they eat sausages while we starve”)

You might be pampered, your generation, but do not be stupid- putting provocative ideas in people’s heads.

        After all.

The people who really EXPERIENCED violence and CAME FACE TO FACE WITH THE UGLIEST SIDE of human violence are quiet.
They do not want to open that Pandora’s box…
Salim Saleh, Sejusa, Mugisha Muntu, Naduuli, Moses Ali, Otafire, Mr. Museveni-though he does alot of political posturing(master of violence)etc.

You BRATS, who were not even in the country or were in “a safe part” of the country are the ones YAPPING…

        Moral of the tirade;
If you are “eating” , eat quietly, do not give people ideas…you do not live in heaven/Mars, you can easily be distinguished in a crowd and historically you are not the strongest…(Let people talk, you eat, time will come when the executive changes, will you have the chance to “take off” ? Then why put yourself in a situation where one of your options is to take off?). This is where I fault a certain individual on Twitter…he should just eat quietly, do people even know his siblings?

Please please please I hope you are using a psuedo name but if you are not, do not cause trouble for my Western Uganda friends who are not born of INCESTUOUS relations and therefore have a weird way of seeing the world.

        …pulling a trigger…even a baby can pull a trigger…
        …pushing a button …even a baby can push a button and a bomb is dropped or exploded…
…but what comes after…where everyone ends up…that is SERIOUS.

Mutuyambe, musiliwalile eri…go get silly in your circles. Do not give people excuses or ideas. Some of you cannot go to Somalia, Congo or South Sudan and are only stationed here because you think Ugandans are “soft targets”.

        Just eat your things quietly.

Listen to your elders, Mr. Museveni told the nation that there is a Western Uganda saying that when you are eating, you conceal yourself…

        Hiccup

This is not ATS where people inherited, we know who won the ATS war…it was not you so stop alluding to ATS views.

  2. The High Court of England’s order for Sudhir Ruparelia to surrender his phone and Sheena Ruparelia to disclose private emails is a clear procedural win for DFCU Bank, but it does not resolve the core allegations surrounding Crane Bank’s management and sale.

While the court has accepted the PwC Uganda audit as credible evidence, Sudhir’s legal team rightly questions whether a local affiliate’s report should carry the weight of the global PwC brand. Compelling personal devices and emails raises real concerns about privacy and due process, and may risk turning a financial dispute into an open-ended fishing expedition.

DFCU’s claim that the allegations are baseless is expected but does not address lingering public doubts about how the Crane Bank takeover unfolded. In the end, this ruling expands discovery but does not prove guilt or innocence….that will depend on whether the facts hold up under serious cross-examination and legal scrutiny.

  3. circumstancial evidences will undress Sudhir and all his accomplices in extorting uganda money and properties

  4. Truly, there’s more to this, they simply want to put him at the corner, should he allude to court’s demand, he surely, Will learn a lesson, not to have trusted those he thought were trust worthy, and they have a calculated, and well coordinated move, should he be vulnerable at this point, and hid to those “court orders” they know he has accumulated what it takes to benefit them, am sure he once shared a cup or plate

With those betrayers, and they were his confides, who know him in and out more than the courts will claim to administer justice, whether in London or in Uganda.
