Some of the children suspected to have been trafficked to Uganda

Police in West Nile are investigating a suspected child trafficking case involving five Congolese nationals who were intercepted with 19 children in Nebbi district.

The incident occurred on Monday at a parking lot in Boma East, where officers from Goli police station acted on a tip-off and stopped the group, who were travelling on foot.

The suspects, all residents of Mungere village in Mahagi Territory, Ituri Province (DRC), were heading toward the Ocea refugee camp in Terego district, allegedly for registration.

West Nile police spokesperson Collins Asea confirmed that the suspects and children were taken to Goli police station for interrogation, involving officers from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and BISO (Bureau of Immigration and Security Operations).

Asea warned parents in the region against entrusting their children to strangers, particularly those offering to take them across borders.

He also noted the challenges posed by the porous border stretching from Dei in Pakwach to Saliamusala in Koboko, where daily cross-border movement happens with minimal regulation. Investigations into the intentions of the group and the well-being of the children are ongoing.

  1. Hahaha URN mutulimbyemu, please cross check your facts. BISO does not mean (Bureau of Immigration and Security Operations).
It actually means Border Internal Security Officer. That person is an ISO staff.
Next time ask instead of coming up with your own titles/organisations.
