You have to admire some people; they are so used to sharing themselves with the world, nothing is off limits.

Take social media aficionado and blogger (sort of), Rita Love Kaggwa, who sections of the Ugandan media two years ago even voted as the most popular blogger.

Kaggwa, who is based in the UK, dedicates her Facebook page to social events and gossip; so much so that she seems to know about Kampalans than Kampala residents themselves.

But a few years ago she was in the local tabloids for dating and having a child, Randell, with broadcast specialist Joel Isabirye, before he dumped her during the pregnancy to marry singer Rebecca Jingo amidst a nasty, public feud.

Well, the mother-of-two has found love again and is not shy to broadcast the fact to her thousands of followers. She has invited all and sundry to her traditional wedding to Joseph Oshunkoya in London, on June 17.

Seeing as her former flame Isabirye has since become a single man yet again after the marriage to Jingo fell apart, looks like Kaggwa is having the last, loud laugh.

Speaking of going with a bang, as some circles mourned Semwanga, news came in that Prof Lawrence Mukiibi had passed on at Norvik hospital where he had been hospitalised for two weeks.

It has been reported that the proprietor of the St Lawrence schools and colleges specified in his will he wants an all-white funeral.  Everybody had better turn up wearing white; the casket should be white, his body should be dressed in white and his grave should be white.

So, fellow mourners, start shopping. Burial is on Friday. No excuses. Meanwhile, one thing is bizarre; every Ugandan with a social media page suddenly seems to have studied at St Lawrence.

Someone said they even saw their OBs and OGs (from other schools!) claim they were at St Lawrence, just to be part of…the…erm…oba what!?

Anyway, in her tribute, St Lawrence alumna and NTV news anchor Josephine Karungi shared a picture from way back in school asking all former students of the school to share their memories as a way of celebrating his life.

Radio City’s Brian ‘Mackenzie’ Sabiiti shared a picture of himself receiving a gift from the late and acknowledged that Mukiibi encouraged him to become what he is today.

Strive Masiyiwa visits Kampala

Star Trail sees so many people make reference to Strive Masiyiwa and allude to his great grains of business knowledge passed on mainly through social media.
Hope you know the man himself popped in and out of Kampala last week – for all that is worth.

The respected South Africa-based Zimbabwean businessman, who among other things, owns Econet and Kwese Sports – which acquired troubled WBS TV last year – was in Kampala last week.

He came with Dr Rajiv J Shah, the president of Rockefeller Foundation, where Masiyiwa is a board trustee. The team met with President Museveni at State House Entebbe over the Smart Power Africa initiative, among other things.

And that’s how to go with a bang

By now you have heard about Ivan Semwanga’s (RIP) show-stopping final homecoming last Sunday.

The socialite died from complications of a stroke last Thursday in South Africa, and images from his funeral were just as jaw-dropping as the images associated with his large living.

The Rich Gang that the deceased money-splashing socialite headed pulled out all the fuel guzzlers from their carports around Kampala and thundered their way to Entebbe International airport to pick his remains and family.

It was not easy to concentrate on the obvious pain of his three sons with Zari Tlale, as the Humvees and assorted other machines – many with personalised plates – overwhelmed mourners.

Matters were not helped that it was back-to-school day for many big schools on Entebbe road; so, the traffic jam was murderous. Semwanga loved the attention in life and no wonder his friends and family saw it fit to send him off in such an in-your-face way.

Scenes at Namirembe Cathedral where his funeral service was held on Monday, were not much different as big cars and big names pulled up. He was buried yesterday (Tuesday) in Kayunga.
