While commissioning the BAR aviation flight to Adjumani on October 21, state minister for Transport Fred Byamukama said this was president Museveni’s idea that will soon be implemented.
He noted that improvement in aviation especially increasing upcountry flights hugely boosts the tourism sector which in return makes positive impact on country’s GDP. BAR Aviation, a privately-owned company based at Kajjansi airfield, offers private jet chartering, scheduled domestic flights and helicopter services.
According to Dorothy Kagaba Byenkya, the head of marketing at BAR Aviation, this is their 12th internal flight launched by the company.
Kagaba also appealed to the minister to fix the poor road network in Kajjansi that connects to the airfield. Byamukama promised that government soon will budget for the road’s construction.
Travelling to Adjumani by road takes over 10 hours, however, with an internal flight, it will take just one hour and 20 minutes. This will now help in connection to northern parts of the country and neighbouring countries like DR Congo and South Sudan without labouring with road and water transports respectively.
