With a new sponsorship deal, return to winning ways on the pitch and approval of their stadium, Vipers Sports Club have the timely motivation ahead of this weekend’s Caf Confederations Cup duty, reports JOHN VIANNEY NSIMBE.

Vipers SC unveiled Roofings Group as one of their sponsors at the Golf Course hotel last Saturday. Last year, Vipers announced a sponsorship deal with Hima Cement.

According to the deal, Vipers SC will receive Shs 500 million from Roofings Group for each of the next two years. This announcement came on the back of Vipers having their St Mary’s stadium approved by Africa football-governing body Caf to host continental games.

In the same week, the club registered their first win in five games when they nicked Bul FC 2-1 last Friday. Such developments will boost Vipers as they prepare to host South African side Platinum Stars in the first leg of their Caf Confederation Cup first round tie on Saturday.

While Hima Cement took up the shirt sponsorship of Shs 300 million for each of the next two years, Roofings group are the official stadium sponsors. This gives them wide access to advertise at the stadium.

But more importantly, to the benefit of Vipers, the Shs 1 billion Roofings is injecting in for the full term of their partnership, will relieve club owner Lawrence Mulindwa of the pressure he has been under as sole-proprietor since 2005. He lauded Roofings  and promed to make it a ‘successful marriage’.

Roofings Group executive director Oliver Lalani said their association with Vipers was hinged on the club’s success in winning cups and constructing their own stadium.

If Vipers beat Platinum Stars for their maiden victory in first international game at the stadium, it would befit Roofings Group as one of the club’s sponsors.
