He is arguably one of Uganda’s best vocalists, but Qute Kaye, popular for his song Ginkese, disappeared off the charts about 10 years ago and was on several occasions wrongfully reported dead or mentally-ill.

He resurfaced last week at Miracle Centre cathedral Lubaga, where he recommitted his life to God. Kaye has been reported in the past to have been a Pentecostal church boy before joining secular music.

In an hour-long deliverance session during which Pastor Robert Kayanja kept apologising to Kaye for “not recognizing you immediately; I would have done this in my office”, the preacher prayed over Kaye, exorcising demons and telling a visibly- perplexed Kaye details about his childhood and inner circle.

Miracle Centre cathedral has since September been holding daily prayer marathon codenamed 77 Days Of Glory (77 DOGs). The second phase started in December.

Qute Kaye’s fans took to social media to celebrate his rebirth, saying they now await his gospel music.

Big Brother Naija sees off Gifty

Grudgingly, even with all the beef the rest of Africa has against DStv and MultiChoice ‘Nigerialising’ their pay TV channels, Big Brother Naija is proving to be the bomb.

It is more entertaining than its pan-African predecessor and the live eviction shows on Sunday are fast-proving to be the ones not to miss – once one gets used to the accent.

The housemates are an interesting mix from the typical loud Nigerians such as Bisola, Kemen and Thin Tall Tony, to the soft-spoken Tboss and Marvis and the talented DerbyRise.

The storyline (married man having sex on live TV with single mother-of-one) may not have changed much from the cringe-worthy ones of Big Brother Africa, but the twists and turns in the Naija edition are causing Africa to tune in and even vote.

On Sunday, Big Brother Naija saw Gifty pack out of the house, making her the fourth housemate to exit after Coco Ice, Soma and Miyonse. Gifty came off too proud; when Big Brother introduced Falz and Banky W, both famous in Nigeria and beyond, Gifty said she had no idea who they were.

“I am sure Gifty, you don’t even know President Muhammadu Buhari,” one viewer tweeted. This must have caused her early exit.

Two weeks ago it was almost clear either Bisola or Thin Tall Tony could win Biggie’s grand prize, but since they have taken to having sex with each other and Nigerians being the ‘moral high-horsers’ they are, this is now unlikely.

It is anybody’s game to win now.

Of Trump’s cabin fever

Only four weeks into his new digs in Washington, D.C, President Donald Trump is complaining that living in the White House is giving him ‘cabin fever’, according to a new report.

The presidential lifestyle is giving Trump headaches and frustration, a White House advisor told Mike Allen, a veteran reporter who recently left Politico.

Trump is irked that he cannot dine out on a regular basis like he used to in Trump Tower, handsomely situated on Midtown Manhattan’s Fifth avenue.

Trump’s wife Melania and son Barron have remained living in the Trump Tower penthouse for now and their pre-teen son finishes his school year.

Trump himself has spent several weekends away since taking office on January 20, at Mar-a-Lago, his ritzy Florida getaway.
