A husband is on the run in Kiboga district, after severely stabbing his pregnant wife.
The seven-month pregnant Colodina Namuleme, 30, from Kikuubo village, Bukomero sub-county, Kiboga district was stabbed in the stomach and arms on Wednesday night by Godfrey Baguma, 41, in their home.
Her intestines spilled out. In an interview from her hospital bed at Kawempe General hospital, Namuleme, who was in so much pain, said she was stabbed about 10 times. She said her husband Baguma claimed she refused to have sex with him because she was sleeping around with other men.
“When I returned from the village where I buy charcoal for selling, he demanded sex but when I refused since I was very tired, he insisted and told me he can’t wait for tomorrow because I sleep with other men,” she said.
“He later got a knife and started stabbing me in the arms, neck and then in the stomach. The knife entered deeply and the intestines came out. When I started making an alarm, he picked some of his clothes and ran out,” Namuleme added.

Neighbours took Namuleme to Bukomero hospital, where she was referred to Kawempe for emergency care.
“She has been cut deeply and the intestines were cut into two pieces,” said Dr Gideon Mugisa, a specialist gynecologist at Kawempe. “We are referring her to Mulago hospital for surgery since at Kawempe we handle issues of gynecology and obstetrics. We have assessed the baby’s condition, which is okay but the mother needs immediate surgical intervention to return the intestines inside the stomach,” he said.
Sarah Ndibalekera, the public relations officer of Kawempe hospital said, with Mulago national referral hospital under renovation, medical services have been divided into three.
“The surgical services remained at Upper Mulago hospital; the gynecologist and obstetrician shifted to Kawempe General hospital; and medical services went to Kiruddu hospital,” she said.
Namuleme said Baguma perpetually beats and insults her whenever she refuses to sleep with him or when she is in her periods. Namuleme’s pregnancy is the fourth. She and Baguma have been together for five years and they have three children.
Baguma, a charcoal burner, is on the run and police want him.
