The two won in the categories of technical skills award and technical service advisor award, which qualified them for a trip to Japan for further skills development program at the Toyota Motor Corporation where they will interact with other winners from around the world.
Toyota Motor Corporation first conducted the skills contest in 1950 with the aim of encouraging skills training and international exchange among technicians, and promote technical skills.
The contest also attracted participants in the categories of body service, parts sales, parts stores and new vehicle sales. The contest, which is intended to test the staffs’ knowledge of automotive technology and skill level to perform diagnosis and repairs on vehicles, involved mock interactions with customers as judges awarded marks based on how best the contestant related with customers.
This was the 13th time that Toyota Uganda held the contest.
