In the women’s Half Marathon Uganda’s Priscilla Chelangat picked a bronze medal with a time of 1:20:25. The race was won by Algeria’s Riham Senani with a time of 1:18:20, while Namibia’s Lakina Hastope came second.
Despite fielding only two athletes Uganda finished fifth on the medal table behind Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Cape Verde. The likes of Algeria fielded 64 athletes, while Cape Verde had 76 and Kenya 40.
“We are proud of our two athletes who won medals. Congratulations to Chemonges and Chelangat,” said Uganda Olympic Committee President William Blick.
The Games also had the 3×3 Basketball, Beach Handball, Beach Rowing Sprints, Beach Soccer, Beach Tennis and Beach Volleyball.
