USA wishes Ugandans a happy, healthy Independence Day
- Written by Christopher Krafft

Uganda attained independence in 1962
On behalf of the United States Embassy in Kampala, I wish all Ugandans a happy, healthy, and peaceful Independence Day. We are proud of all that the United States has accomplished in partnership with Uganda to foster healthy, prosperous, and civically engaged communities.
We recognize, however, that this is a particularly challenging time. So while we continue our joint efforts to improve education outcomes for Ugandan youth, to promote economic growth and food security, and to strengthen Uganda’s democratic institutions, the United States is also working hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Health to support its COVID response.
The power of partnership is never more evident than during challenging times such as these. The United States ’decades-long investment in Uganda’s health system has helped build the capacities that Uganda’s research facilities, laboratories, health centers, and medical professionals are utilizing to combat COVID-19.
The United States will continue to stand with Uganda as we confront the challenges of COVID, and we will continue to invest in the friendship and partnership between our two countries.
Congratulations on the 58th anniversary of Uganda's independence.

Is USA assuring Museveni of support, wishing him well to conclude 35 years in power, begin the coming 5 years, knowing USA will be behind him?
4 years in post, D. Trump is fighting nails & teeth to get second final 4 year term, but USA is proud Uganda, ruled through a tribalistic system by migrant Museveni for soon 35 years, can celebrate independence & from who?
If USA respected, loved Ugandans, it would have called them to bring down the tribalistic system & to UNITY that would give them the so neded second Independence!
How can a developed country wish Ugandans happy independence when the country is under second colonial grip & Ugandans are slaves with no say?
As you should already know, we have been on this beautiful, green piece of Earth for as long as we can remember. The English came as our guests for a few decades and at the end of their visit, informed us the we were independent.
We have since been under some kind of arrangement by a new breed of the English, with African roots but English mannerisms. Every year they remind us that we have independence, and do the flag routine like 58 years ago. This is what they call Independence.
