Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa was a hub of golfers on Saturday, May 27 for it shot two birds with one stone; it was a running event for the I&M Serena 63 Golf Series while also doubling as the May Mug of Mugs.

The day attracted some of the leading amateur golfers but victory went to Leenah Halai, who rode on a forgiving handicap of 50 to play 39 stableford points.

Group A was claimed by Ronald Kasige who won on countback to beat the impressive Moses Matsiko, who is president of Uganda Golf Union. Kasige and Matsiko both garnered 33 points. Kasige plays off hc 11 while Matsiko is 7.

Group B went to Dr Innocent Nahabwe who returned 33 points, five better than runner-up Nobuyoshi Kida. Second runner-up was Suresh Patel who amassed 27 points.

Charles Hamya drove the ball well and putted immaculately enroute to a superb 39 points off handicap 7. He took home the prize as the best guest player.

In the ladies category, Maria Odido emerged top with 30 points to beat Katy Kabenge into first runner-up position. John Paul Basabose claimed the nearest to the pin while George Nkya hit the longest drive on no.16 to claim the bragging rights off the tee. The junior winner was Jordan van Rooyen.
