Ghana’s experienced tactician Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin has been appointed coach of the Uganda Cubs (junior version of Uganda Cranes senior football team).

The 60 year-old Fabin will be in-charge of the Cubs during the U-17 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) slated for April 14-28th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

President of the Uganda FA, Moses Magogo announced the appointment on Wednesday during a press conference at the headquarters in Mengo, Kampala.

" I therefore take this moment to announce Fabin Kwesi Samuel as the new head coach of the U-17 national team. He has experience with such teams having coached the Ghana U-17 national team. We therefore welcome you to Uganda,” said Magogo.

Fabin who guided Ghana’s U-17 team to the quarter finals of the 2017 U-17 World Cup in India said he is happy to be in Uganda for the first time.

“I know this will be a difficult task because there is little time to prepare. I am here with a mission to guide the Cubs at the qualifiers in Tanzania,” he added.

Uganda Cubs are pooled alongside Tanzania, Nigeria and Angola in Group A for the U-17 Afcon. The other teams in the tournament include; Cameroon, Senegal, Morocco and Guinea.
