Namisindwa man dies in alcohol drinking challenge

A 24-year-old man has died during a drinking challenge in Namisindwa district.
Rober Welikhe a renowned alcoholic and resident of Sikhendu village Sikhendu parish Bukiabi sub-county took on the challenge to drink 12 bottles of Kakasa Kombucha drink, an alcoholic brand from Kenya.
Michael Koyi, one of the residents says that the competition was organized by Augustus Wete one of the local traders in the Riverside trading center at Bukiabi sub county. He explained that Wete staked Shs 10,000 for whoever would down 12 bottles of Kakasa Kombucha.
He explains that all was well until Welikhe, reached the 8th bottle. He collapsed and started releasing foam from his mouth and nose prompting residents to rush him to Lwakhakha Mercy Clinic for treatment but died en route.
Nicolas Soita, Bukiabi sub county LC III chairperson confirmed the incident, saying that they are hunting for Wete and those who were behind the competition. Angry locals had dumped the deceased's body at Wete's home by the time of filing this story.
