Traffic police has blamed the road accident that has claimed the life of Serere County MP Patrick Okabe and his wife, Christine Okabe on overspeeding by the driver of Isuzu Box Body truck Reg. No. KCX 071K.

The accident occurred in Naboa Town Council in Budaka district along the Mbale-Tirinyi road around 7:00 am today Monday - killing the MP on the spot while his wife died on the way to Mbale Regional Referral hospital.

Their driver only identified as Jacob is in critical condition, according to the police traffic and road safety spokesperson, Faridah Nampiima. According to Nampiima, the truck driver who is still at large, drifted from his side to the MP’s side, leading to a head-on collision.

The MP and his team were driving in a V8 Toyota Land Cruiser Reg. No. UBK 995K. Information in Serere indicates that the Okabe is often driven by one of his sons.

Attempts to verify the driver’s relationship with the MP were futile by the time of publishing this story as none of the people in the family were picking up nor returning several calls by our reporter.

The MP was in Mbale last night and was reportedly travelling for some engagements in Entebbe with other MPs. Stephen Ochola, the Serere District LC V chairperson, says it’s a dark season for Teso.

“It’s a dark Christmas period for Teso. We were busy preparing for the burial of Bukedea district chairperson, Moses Olemukan who died on Saturday, and Okabe’s death strikes. It’s an unfortunate and very difficult moment for us," he said on phone.

So Ugandans have to folk out another 30 Million UGX as funeral allowance!!!! For this one, maybe it's fine - at least one less MPIG.

Ensures the State saves 10,000 USD next month that could have been paid as salary. These MPIGS are just hopeless as they are thieves.

Look at the car he was driving!!!!!! Land cruiser V8?? UBK?? If he has invested that money to build a hospital, maybe then he wouldn't have been on the road!
Now watch the banks close in on his property - no mercy on this as well!!!

So many Ugandans are killed on roads frequently, but police never say a word!

But is concerned about the mp who serves chief tribal leader, fake president, owner of Uganda, Museveni!

Do we still wonder why Museveni put in the tribalistic system, reformed police, owns army, his mps changed the constitution to make it personal?

Tunisians waited for public/social services & that never came, so boycotted parliamentary election & only 8.8% turned out to vote!

Ugandans just have to say NO to the tribalistic system & UNITE to block & show Musevei way out, then form the kind of governance they want!

Why wait for things to get to a point of no return when you still believe you belong to tribes, yet non controls tribal land & ALL belong to Museveni?

Why have Ugandans made Museveni & family so so rich & buys them off with what belongs to them?

We will SURELY see more of those SPEEDING TRUCKS doing it to the decenting NRMers, as the succession debate picks up pace, especially in the "rubber-stamp" house. [My person opinion only, based on my historical experiences over the past 3 Decades (+) of this regime in power].

Please don't celebrate peoples' death or develop conspiracy theories.

You're not immortal. RIP Papa MP and Toto Christine. Teso people (especially Iseera), know that the diseased MP was involved in community initiatives/projects that are aimed at lifting people out of poverty.

And Ssekabaka, including that of Gen Tibuhaburwa, with nowhere to go to; look at the Vanity Cars the Speaker of Parliament and her Deputy move in: Mercedes Benz Pullman!

Although this Model is made in Germany, even the German Chancellor and cabinet members do not know how the inside of Mercedes Benz Pullman looks or feels like.

In other words, double tragedy! what do our politician want show of prove to the people they lead? It is the characteristic of stupidity and the culture of vicious poverty.

Otherwise, how can the top leaders of highly indebted country like Uganda, buy for themselves each, "a luxury vehicle" worth over Shs.1.2 billion (US$.335,200), when the people they lead languish in absolute poverty, with no hospitals or schools worth names to go to?

Double tragedy! May MP Patrick Okabe and his wife's soul be at peace from the hassle of the vanity of life.
