Pfizer and BioNTech have reached an agreement with a South African company to produce their COVID-19 vaccine for distribution in Africa, the biotechnology companies said today Wednesday.

The Biovac Institute in Cape Town will manufacture 100 million doses of the vaccine annually starting in 2022. The company will mix vaccine ingredients it receives from Europe, place them in vials and package them for distribution to the 54 countries in Africa.

The agreement may eventually help alleviate vaccine shortages on a continent where the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says less than 2% of its population of 1.3 billion has received at least one dose.

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said the company’s goal is to provide people throughout Africa with the vaccine, a departure from previous bilateral agreements that saw most doses being sold to wealthy countries.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is already being manufactured in South Africa in a similar “fill and finish” process that has the capacity to produce more than 200 million doses annually. The vaccines are also being distributed across the African continent.

That is the only way to go in order to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

That is through a reliable vaccine with a high efficacy. Not by drinking some herbal concoctions which can damage one's liver or even drinking the green monkey's blood.

There are many quacks out there. Many claims are merely based on the placebo effects, without any intensive clinical trials or research.

these white masqueraders can keep their low class poisonous vaccines, we have Covidex, we have melanin and we have brains, things these Phizertech dogs lack. did we ask for them?

they said africa will lose millions and millions of pipo, they said some entire countries would be wiped out by covid, but africa just lost a couple bobi wines. these whites are prophets of doom, faggots, scum of the earth.. let them go hang with their vaccine we have our dark skin we good..

Thats a good move but we should still go ahead and establish the capacity to make our own vaccines.

These donations and aid have made Africans lazy and complacent

Africa should invest in medical research so that we are able to produce our own vaccines!

Dependency on hand-outs stunts our ability to produce for ourselves. If the current pandemic has taught us anything, it is that we must learn to be on our own instead of counting on the international community to 'save' us!!
