Suspect: Gerald Ndikumukiza

A 28-year-old man who allegedly murdered his parents, wife and sister-in-law in Kisoro district, western Uganda on Thursday last week has turned himself in.

Gerald Ndikumukiza, the main suspect in last week's gruesome multiple murder, handed himself over to police on Sunday afternoon. A resident of Kageyo village, Busengo parish Nyarubuye sub-county, Ndikumukiza reportedly hacked to death his 26-year-old wife Maserina Mujawimana, his father Deogratious Sebitama aged 80, his 75-year-old mother Bonconsira Nyiraguhirwa before turning the machete on a 20-year-old Joan Nyiramahoro, his sister-in-law.

After committing the offence, Ndikumukiza went into hiding, but left a letter at the scene of crime with the words “Icyo mwashakaga mwakibonye” a Kifumbira statement meaning “what you wanted you have seen it".

The suspect, had a day before, come from Masaka district where he worked as a casual labourer. The Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate said that the suspect handed himself in to Kisoro Central police station and told the police officers on duty that he feared being lynched by locals.

Maate added that the suspect further told police that he murdered his family members over land wrangles, explaining that the family gave him a piece land on a steep slope where he couldn’t construct a house.

The suspect said that although he had gone to Masaka to look for money to buy his own land, he failed to get the money, which forced him to kill his relatives out of anger. Maate said that the suspect had some time back exhibited lunatic tendency and will first be taken to hospital for mental examination.

What a tragedy! May the souls of the massacre be at peace.

In other words, that is how and what absolute and dehumanizing poverty can do some people.

The hopelessness has driven many over the edge/cliff, including self-immolation, which is a new phenomena in Uganda.

Unfortunately, under the current self-serving government; where Mr. M7 already declared that he is in our State House, fighting only for himself, family and vanity; many more Ugandans will suffer the fate of rage wielding machetes and/or suicide.

Lakwena, thanks.

Yet, Museveni knows he's there for life & will only get worse, while Ugandans serving him destroy their own for handouts from him!

Ugandans MUST end Museveni's demoniac rule in UNITY, if they want a different future at all!

After legalising Museveni beyond 35 years, why will he finaly look at Ugandans as humans, when they shall have yet let him rig, thus endorsed him as the only ruler?

How pathetic Uganda situation is; not 1 tribe has the leadership to FREE its people & just mind their business on FREE Independent Tribal Land!
