Police officer remanded for selling bullets to businesswoman

A police constable and a businesswoman in Kitgum district have been remanded to prison over the illegal sale and possession of bullets.

SPC Beatrice Akello attached to Kitgum Matidi police post and her accomplice Irene Aciro, a resident of Lajang village in Pajimo parish in Labongo Akwang sub-county were arrested about two weeks ago and have been in detention at Kitgum central police station.

Another police officer, James Canrac attached to Bus Park police post who had been arrested in connection with the same, was however released after he was delinked from the transaction. The suspect reportedly sold at least 16 bullets at Shs 5,000 each.

The suspects, who appeared before Kitgum Grade one magistrate John Paul Obuya, this afternoon, all denied the charges of being in possession and the illegal sale of three Ak-47 assault rifle bullets. They were remanded to Kitgum government prison until December 18, when they return for the hearing of their case.

Meanwhile, the same court also remanded to Kitgum prison Samuel Opoka, a 30-year-old farmer over the murder of his two-year-old daughter. The suspect was not allowed to enter plea because his case is capital in nature ad can only be tried in the high court.

It’s reported that on November 21, this year at Lapana B village in Paibony parish in Kitgum Matidi sub-county, the suspect repeatedly slammed his daughter several times on a grass-thatched hut wall until she died. He is expected to reappear in court on December 18, for the hearing of his case.

I give much credit to the newspapers and other media which have ceaselessly laboured to report and expose suspects and criminals.

Without discouraging your efforts as long as kawukumi, identified by Museveni is permanently embedded in the Police and other bodies supposed to eliminate it, are part of kawukumi itself the efforts to eradicate this incurable cancer are a waste of your valuable time.

But yet I can't suggest that the media must stop when the country is daily eroded by the disease. What happened to a senior policeman fairly recently caught and arrested in"action" of highway robbery near Kitubulu Entebbe with his uniforms hanging in the official police car.?

Most likely he is in line to receive one of the bogus medals squandered on the so called "nationalist" for their "services" to Uganda.
