Flash floods hit Clock Tower following afternoon downpour

Transport has this evening been paralysed around Clock Tower as a result of flash floods following today afternoon's downpour in Kampala. The floods flowing from Clock Tower to Nakivubo Channel submerged the road making it nearly impassable for pedestrians and small cars.

The compound of Uganda Police Directorate of Fire Prevention and Rescue Services was also flooded. Youthful men were charging Shs 1,000 per person to be carried over the waters to the other side of the road.

People who couldn't pay opted to remove their shoes, fold their trousers and wade through the floodwaters. This isn't the first time Clock Tower is flooding. Various attempts have been made in vain to improve the drainage and ease the water flow.

Tell that to Lady Betty Kamya who declared recently that "She had delivered Kampala to Museveni"!

Imagine a whole of thirty years we haven't solved this problem despite the fact that we drive through this place day in and day out.

Shame, shame, despicable shame. This lot will not give a 'flying flamingo' about national sewerage action, instead they hark about swahili, swahili and more swahili!

NEMA has connived with the Ministry of lands and given away all wet lands that would temporarily store, clean and release water into lake Victoria, now its time to pay the price, not only the encrochers but all Ugandans
