Uganda Airlines to make maiden flight this Tuesday

Uganda Airlines (UR) will have its maiden flight this Tuesday instead of Wednesday.

The maiden flight will be for selected people who will include technical officers, government officials, and members of the media. This was revealed by the ministry of Works and Transport spokesperson Susan Kataike.

The flight will depart from Entebbe Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 10:00 am. Although on its website, Uganda Airlines indicates it has no flight on Tuesday, UR hopes to use the marketing flight to warm into the hearts of Ugandans as it tussles it out with the established players.

The announcement for change of the maiden flight was made by ministry of Works, not the airline, via a tweet on Sunday, prompting a section of the public to ask whether plans for the maiden flight had changed.

Wednesday was announced as the day for the maiden commercial flight with take off for JKIA scheduled at 6:00 am.

Congatulations to Uganda Airline on its maiden Tuesday flight. But the start has not been so good especially with rescheduling (cancelling) its flight from Wednesday to Tuesday.

If this is a barometer for how the airline is going to function, then it already has a major problem right from the start.

It had better do better than this to attract customers. We don't want to book on airlines that will make us travel on other days(not times) than what we booked and paid for!

So on Uganda Airlines website there is no record of a flight on Tuesday....!!! But a " tweet from the Ministry of works" prompted the change???

It's confusing!!! Is some one fumbling with Uganda's new carrier already???

However we Ugandans should celebrate the important milestone of development seeing The Carrier get airborne again!!

Like the guy said when he welcome the planes; "I buried the old Uganda Airlines...", now the new "baby" has to learn to crawl and walk eventually, given time.

On the question of 'beautiful or smooth flight' mentioned by the above commentators, these facilities are enabled by both the airline and the customers.

Meanwhile as with all other airports/ airlines, smuggling will be one hell of a problem to address. As for fuel running out Mr Wadada, the pilots and engineers will have to be vigilant as a "small OPEC" operates out of Kitooro!

Quoting WADADA roger:

Ha ha ha haaaa!!!!
That's my nagging fear!!!!

Any one who attempt to steal the money for fuel/ or even the fuel itself must be deamed as a capital offender and a terrorist!!!!

He must be removed and punished heavily as s deterrent
