Gov't sued over Museveni bush war, victims demand Shs 25bn

Some 10,805 people from various districts have dragged government to court seeking for Shs 25 billion compensation for the alleged losses they suffered during the I986 political insurgency.

The lead petitioners are John Kitaka, James Galimaka, Henry Matovu, Fred Byegumye Batumbya and James Wandira Muruli from the districts of Nakasongola, Buyende, Masindi, Kiryandongo and Kayunga. They are represented by Nyombi and Company Advocates.

They contend that during the 1981-1987 war, they owned several livestock including sheep, goats, cattle and property that was destroyed during the insurgency that ushered in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government. They also contend that they were displaced from their homes.

They argue that government failed in its duty by not compensating them like people affected by the war in other regions. They also observe that they have brought the suit to court 33 years later because government has repeatedly failed to honour its promises to compensate them.

The petitioners say they have been deprived of their property, livelihood and development due to government’s failure to compensate them. They also claim that they have continued to wallow in total poverty and untold suffering hence pushing for compensation.

Court has since summoned the attorney general to file his defense within fifteen days of service or else court will proceed without it. The said insurgency was sparked off by several opposition groups that were challenging President Apollo Milton Obote’s leadership.

Between 100,000 and 500,000 people including combatants and civilians are estimated to have lost their lives and thousands displaced from their homes.

In other words, since Mr. M7 made it public that: including going to the bush in 1981, he is only fighting for himself and family; let John Kitaka, Galimaka, Henry Matovu, Fred Byegumye Batumbya, James Wandira Muruli, e'tal, go and camp at Mr. M7 door steps in Rwakitura and demand for their comprehensive damages.

Including those who were born after Mr. M7 crimes against Ugandans; we are all victims of Mr. M7's selfishness.

It is therefore unfair and unjust for some of Mr. M7's victims to start demanding compensation from Mr. M7's other crime victims.

Lakwena, agreed, but,

Ugandans will be victims of Museveni as long as they maintaini him in power through the tribalistic system that leaves them powerless!

If UNITY throws Museveni out, from which tribal alnd will he fight back this time?

And if he dies in power, what will tribalistically divided & ruled Ugandans without common leadership, do?

kabayekka, understood, yet,

Which bush will he fight from this time?

Ugandans have no choice but to bring down the tribalistic system, if they want help from developed world!

But Ugandans can go for independent tribal states NOW & each will make its stand with the outside world as 'real country' running its country's business!

Until then, Museveni will rule through the tribalsitic system & the outside world will remain silent to tribalistically divided Ugandans' miseries!

Quoting Mumonkey:
Country of wolves. Money money money money. No patriotism nor pride. Opportunities at others expenses is what the game is.

We've all lost at some point due to political instability. Names still suffering the curse of parent's mistakes.

People still living in exile because they lost everything and fled. Who shall we all sue? It's time to move on. Oh Uganda.

Thanks.

Ugandans are the only tribalistically divided & ruled by a migrant who will enslave, terrorise, loot freely; from the time he was in the bush till he drops dead!

No outsider will say a word against Museveni as long as Ugandans cherish the tribalistic system; we left Dr Besigey & now mp Bobi Wine to fight lonely battle, thus ensure Museveni's continuity in peace!

What dramatic show Ugandans offer to the world & freely!

Mulindwa, understood, but,

Don't forget that it's Ugandans keeping Museveni in power & they alone can throw him out but only in UNITY, so that he has no chance to destroy an already destroyed people!

It's poverty, oppression, starvation...that empower people & give them the urge to bring change so that their miseries end!

Ugandans have not yet suffered enough & want Museveni to go on, so the outside world will go on watching in silence, wille UN/Museveni... resettle tribalists at armed war from yonder in peaceful Uganda!

Lysol, understood, but,

As it is with the tribalistic system assuring Museveni's place while giving no chance to even Bobi Wine, he will die in power! Then, may be, Ugandans will wake up to reality!

Lakwena, thanks.

Ugandans have no choice but 'UNITE', if they want to start living as FREE people, put in place a government, bring Museveni to justice!

How is crying for justice under Museveni settle any problem when the country belongs to him, he controls every institution, will never lose election?

Who is going to punish Museveni & government for crimes he commited & continues to commit?

How can Museveni who controls every institution, owns Uganda...be brought to justice & by who?
