Shs 80 million raised for Naalya church

Naalya christian community has raised Shs 80 million to buy land for St Phillips Church Naalya.

Retired Bishop George Sinabulya who was the main celebrant at an inaugural fundraising church service, which took place at Naalya Senior Secondary School on May 5, said this initiative is powered by God.

“God has put this on us to do on his behalf. It can be hard to fund community projects without the help of large grants so crowd funding provides a simple and effective way to raise the money needed by power of God,” Sinabulya said.

Elizabeth Birabwa Aliro, chairperson of the fundraising, said St Phillips Church Naalya started in 2000 with about five members.

“This church started at Charles Lubega’s Garage with five people and most of them were elderly who could move the long distance to Kamuli Parish Church but as time goes the numbers have increased and there is need to have bigger space,” she said.

“We have our good member who has offered his land for church construction but we have to contribute Shs 800 million as you all know land in Naalya is expensive,” she narrated.
