I'm not in critical condition - Kadaga

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has disputed reports that she is critical condition and has been flown from Kenya to Spain for further treatment after her condition worsened. Kadaga who has been admitted to the Aga Khan hospital in Kenya for about two weeks says she is feeling much better and is optimistic that she will be discharged soon.

Kadaga fell sick in on March 21 and was first hospitalized at Nakasero hospital in Kampala over fatigue-related illness following her return from trips in New York, USA and Rabat, Morocco. She was flown to Aga Khan hospital two days later.

A statement from the Office of the Speaker of Parliament then indicated that Kadaga became ill as a result of a hectic work schedule, fatigue and jet lag.

In a recorded audio message circulated by the speaker’s principle press secretary Sam Obbo on Sunday, Kadaga appreciates the efforts of both the Ugandan and Kenyan doctors and says that she now feels better.

In the audio message, Kadaga thanked President Yoweri Museveni for taking time off his very busy schedule to visit her at Nakasero and Aga Khan hospitals.

She also extended gratitude to First Lady Janet Museveni; the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope; the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II; and the Queen of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda and religious leaders among others for their support and prayers.

Kadaga also urged the media to report only facts on matters of public concern and hold onto the highest journalistic standards.

“I also urge the media and the public to always seek information from official channels, and to desist from reporting biased and false information.”

You say u are no longer in critical condition otherwise why would you seek treatment outside Uganda.

You serve a party that claims to have developed this country but even with a 'simple' illness you are flown out. All your actions and words are sickening

But Kadaga forgot to thank the hundreds of thousand of Ugandans who contribute towards her VIP treatment and specialized medical bills; but only to die in neglected and deplorable medical facilities.

I just wonder, aware of the state of Hospitals in Ugandan; what level of moral consciousness our politicians have?

What pride do we have as nation, when our high profile citizens prefer to be treated elsewhere, when countrymen, women and children die in dehumanizing medical facilities.

In other words, the Kenyans/Aga Khan, or wherever our VIP's go for treatment, hold their noses and take the money anyway.

But I am sure Kadaga wouldn't have died if she had decided to be taken to Mulago Hospital. And if she did, like every human being would; Kadaga would be a heroine.

Every Ugandan is a VIP! I detest the idea that all Ugandans are equal before God and the law, but some Ugandans arrogate themselves for being more important than others.

Since we pay taxes for purposes of common good/well-being, every Ugandan deserves the best: the best education/schools; the best medical/healthcare; the best affordable transport system, the best housing; etc.; etc.

In other words, it was only Obote and Amin (all RIP) who cared about the well-being of Ugandans.

Otherwise, why would our current politicians arrogate themselves and consume the lion share of our collective sweat, blood and the suffering to earn that money?

No politician (especially a Ugandan one) can ever admit to being in such a poor state of health as to jeopardize their source of eating!

This is why you see people like the former Algerian President who wanted to continue ruling even after a stroke had clearly devastated him to a point of almost complete uselessness.

There is no doubt that Kadaga's health is not the best. The question remains as to whether she is willing to respect the signals that her body is sending her or whether due to greed for power she would prefer to end up like Bouteflika of Algeria, frail and broken in a wheelchair!

Kodeyo Muk Kadaga !

of course you are not in critical condition .

You were only jet-lagged ; that is why you have been evacuated from here to two different hospitals abroad.

While you are there , the people of Busoga are also jigger-lagged but not in critical condition.

Stay there as long as you want . This place in unfil for fatigued ones. "Mbu akafa omukkuto...."

BTW : "official channels of information" have not told us exactly where you are and what your real problem is .

Thank you wazza and well said-she was one of the chief architects in removing term limits and age limit-in short she has worked hard to entrench dictatorship, worked against democracy and development of Uganda-I personally do not have any sympathies for her and her ilk!!!

My sister/mom/ aunt Lakwena you nailed it on top. Most health centre II’s and III’s are used for storing harvested beans, groundnuts, coffee and sim sim in the country side but here our so called VIPs or rather politicians are being flown out due to jet lag something.

Pregnant women in Kapelabyong, Kihiihi, Maracha, Bukwo are being carried on make shift bamboo stretchers 18kms to the nearest semblance of medical facilities. The other time it was someone’s daughter flown on a private Gulf Stream 4 jet to Germany for a pregnancy test!

By the way, do government officials and politicians get per diem when they are away for treatment?

A few weeks ago he wanted Shs.200,000,000 for his services and you simply rubbished him.
