Fire has gutted Royal Foam Mattress factory in Kyambogo destroying mattresses worth millions of shillings.

The fire that started a few minutes past 5pm on Friday from inside the factory, spread through the factory premises within less than ten minutes before the police fire brigade put it out. This is the second fire at the factory in less than six months.
According to one of the factory employees, some welders were welding a machine inside the factory when the fire started.

"It started from the socket near where they were welding from and it spread very fast. We could not do anything about it," the employee said.

The police fire brigade arrived at the scene about 15 minutes after the fire had started, and it took them about 40 minutes to put it out.

According to the deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, there was no death or injuries reported. He said investigations into the cause of the fire are on-going.

Well then who is going to pay for this huge compensation from such a careless loss. Is it going to be the business insurance or the Uganda tax payer?
