The State House Anti-corruption unit arrested two Jinja based Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) officers on suspicion of soliciting and receiving a bribe. Hassan Milo and Ferdinand Wamala were caught red handed receiving a bribe of Shs 45 million from local businessman, Jomo Nkata.

The bribe was part of Shs 50 million meant to help Jomo to evade payment of Shs 3 billion that he owes to the tax body. Jomo told journalists that he tipped off the State House Anti-corruption unit because he was fed of pressure from the URA officers.

"I decided to engage this Anti-corruption unit because am fed up of pressure from these URA who keep on approaching me for bribes yet I was given a period of three years to clear my tax arrears," he said.

The duo was arrested by four plain-clothed officers from Nile Anchor hotel and ferried to unknown destination. Senior police officers at Kiira police station declined to comment on the matter, saying they hadn't received a brief from their State House counterparts. The president's press secretary, Don Wanyama confirmed the duo's arrest in a phone interview.

President Yoweri Museveni unveiled the State House Anti-corruption unit during the commemoration of the World Anti-Corruption Day at Kololo Ceremonial grounds on December 10, 2018.
He said the unit, which is under Lt Col Edith Nakalema will work in collaboration with other government anti-corruption agencies to stamp out corruption. He asked government officers with corruption tendencies to quit or reform, saying they will not be spared.

Very reliable sources in the State House claim that former minister Henry Tumukunde embezzled money given for Uganda consul in Serbia and has been using that money to block our consul to complain to the president and other key stakeholders including IGPs office, minister for presidency, MOF, Public prosecutors office and many others.

Our consul has been trying to pass this plea and inform the president but all doors were closed for him, first and foremost of the Principal Private Secretary to the president Molly Kamukamu who refused to reply to our consuls letters, emails, phone call .

This scandal falls in the docket of Chief of Anti-corrosion Unit of the State House LTC Edith Nakalema Sources claim further that our consul was prev need and blocked to reach any office of the Government including that of LTC Nakalema.

We shall be following with keen interest and inform Uganda public if LTC Nakalema will summon disgraced former minister of security Tumukunde who is accused of also syphoning billions of shillings during the last elections .

Just to remind readers that Tumukunde was earlier put in house detention for a good number of years, but never learnt from past mistakes and continued his malpractices.

He also had issues and fights with general Wamala an came out bruised and disgraced. Wr shall keep the public informed on what the State House anti-corrosion unit will do about this.Neera Neera,Neera!!!

That is what we have been telling this over zealous leadership.

If URA is collecting 14 trillion shillings of revenue, it is costing this institutions over 5 trillion shillings to do that.

And this cost must be put in the national fiscal budget so that the tax payer is very much aware of the value of his tax payment to this country.

Mr Jomo must now face the very difficult task of paying 3 billion shillings so that this government can spend this money wisely.

Because as the King of Buganda recently warned, corruption is a very bad process of waste.

It is like someone living in a dry season who goes to fetch water from a very far river with a basket.

This leadership was told a long time ago by concerned citizens that No Lule no Work and they refused to listen.

Now they are harvesting the whirlwind of Uganda political hypocrisy.
