Stella Nyanzi arrested for attacking Museveni on Facebook

Makerere University social researcher and political activist Dr Stella Nyanzi has been arrested from Wandegeya police station as she sought police protection for her protest march against Makerere Institute for Social Research (MISR) for failing to reinstate her back in office.

Nyanzi was suspended indefinitely from Makerere on March 31, 2017 by vice chancellor Prof John Ddumba-Ssentamu on the orders of the appointments board chairman Bruce Balaba Kabaasa for attacking the First Lady and Education minister Janet Museveni on Facebook over 'incompetence to run the ministry.'

But a staff appeals tribunal that sat last month ordered Makerere to immediately reinstate Nyanzi, saying her suspension was both illegal and unlawful. Dr Nyanzi had apparently organized a protest walk to Makerere from Wandegeya police station to protest against the university's refusal to reinstate her back in office.

The spokesperson of the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) Vincent Sekate told the media that Nyanzi was arrested over her recent Facebook posts in which she attacked President Yoweri Museveni and his late mother.

Sekate said all along police has been looking for Nyanzi to make a statement about the Facebook posts that she made September 16, 2018, a day after Museveni's 74th birthday.

The post was crafted in vulgarity and seemingly targeted at the president's late mother Esteri Kokundeka. She followed the September 16 post with two others on September 18 and September 19.

In the posts, Nyanzi called on the dead Esteri to come take her son away because he's torturing and murdering Ugandans and looting the country's resources. She also attacked Esteri for raising and looking away as her son continues to cause suffering to Ugandans.

Police says it's investigating Nyanzi for allegedly alarming, annoying and ridiculing the person of the president contrary to section 24 of the Penal Code Act. The crime attracts a punishment of life imprisonment upon conviction.

In April 2017, she was charged at Buganda Road Magistrate's court for cyber harassment contrary Museveni 'a pair of buttocks'. She was at the time remanded to Luzira prison for two weeks and later released on bail.

What a shame, we harass-arrest-teargas... one another to protect, keep Museveni in power & in a country that is not his!

Amin used his own people, Sudanese, to do the dirty work for him, but Museveni throws Ugandans against themselves & not 1 sees it!

So, when Museveni dies of old age, Ugandans will kill one another because they won't have the god any more & won't know how to live!

Why have Ugandans become enemies of themselves in this way & just to protect, keep in power the former asylum seeker who spits on them, oppresses & enslaves them...to make all understand the country belongs to him?

How can Ugandans still call the country theirs' when they have no say in it, tax money belongs to Museveni...& they are just landless/migrant slaves?

Migrants in USA-Europe have rights, but Ugandans don't have a say in their own country!!!

But Muhwezi, when Mr. M7 referred to his predecessors as swine, idiots, etc., do you you think Mr. M7 respects Ugandans?

The measure you give is the measure you get. Isn't it a falsehood to respect a, liar, thief, master of violence, killer, etc.?

In other words, because respect is deserved and not imposed, God will punish you for respecting criminals.

When you involve mothers then we disagree, in early 1980s when M7 was fighting UNLA in the bush, some soldiers were so annoyed and wanted to attack Mama Esteri Kaguta but the then Chief-Off-Staff Opon Acak took Esteri to Makenke Barracks in Mbarara, when he felt they were not safe enough he transferred them to his residence in Kololo under the watch of Obote (The devil according to M7), up to the time they overthrew UPC government Esteri was in Kololo, now that's how kids leaves their parents out of playground fights, though it took NRA /M7 to clear Obotes mother, sad indeed (YOU DON'T INVOLVE PARENTS IN YOUR FIGHTS).

Interesting! Are you, allow me to inquire, by any chance brother or related (in any way) to Prof. Kirya who has shown a talent for failing at every task?

At least you say "...Here in the US..." which means (I believe) you live there. How much worth are you to turn this into a derogatory marathon against a billionaire, a president, an accomplished man! I hope you have run and won (at a minimum) a "Dogcatchers Contest".

Mr Kirya, with all my due respect, you have dismally failed to convince me that you are as smart and descend as you would want to make us believe in saying Betty Kamya is a confused money hungry thug like m7.

This woman is suffering because he is in one or another fighting a self imposed first family which does not deserve our respect.

It is you who is money hungry. Who chased you away from Uganda to the point of living in US? It is due to the valueless Uganda shilling that you need a dollar.

It is you who loves easy life, money, self aggrandizement... She has never begged a cent from you neither from your cousin, Museveni.

But Stewart, after all that Brig Opon Acak did to M7's mother; what did Mr. M7 do to Acak? The man shot on the back, dead!

And what did the NRA soldiers do to Obote's old parents? Cruelty and Death! That's M7
