Museveni turns 74 today

President Yoweri Museveni who settled for September 15 as his probable date of birth turns 74 today. But there is no birthday celebration on Museveni's official schedule, according to the senior presidential press secretary Don Wanyama.

"The official programme is a couple of meetings and a press conference in the evening," Wanyama said when asked how the president will mark his 74th birthday.

Museveni settled for September 15 as his birthday, after speculation and second-person accounts supported by what he calls a number of "historical and scientific" events that took place in 1944, the year when he says he was born.

Museveni officially turns 74 today

Writing in the 2nd edition of Sowing the Mustard Seed, in 2016, Museveni says three people including his mother, Esteeri Kokundeka helped him find out details of his date of birth. Museveni says his mother said he was born "like three months before the ekikatu (the mass cattle vaccination) of ishara-matu (when the cattle's ears were being notched)."

Museveni says a veterinary guard who took part in the exercise, helped him get the year.

"Fortunately, one of the veterinary guards that took part in that vaccination, Serugyendo (a Mufumbira from Kisoro) was still alive. He was a godsend. When I invited him to Rwakitura [Museveni's country home], he was unequivocal. The vaccination in Ntungamo took place between the 24 and 28 of November 1944."

Since his mother had said it was like three months after before mass vaccination, Museveni said he first took August 1944 as the date of birth. But Museveni says there was another old woman who kept saying that she knew when he was born. When invited to Rwakitura, the old lady, Tophus Bwankuuku told Museveni another account.

"She told me that she and her husband lived in the parish (omuruka) next to ours; that would be a distance of eight miles away. However, her sister in law (omuramukazi) was married in the village next to ours, Ruyonjwa (two miles away or less). She had undertaken okwangama (when a woman temporarily withdraws from her husband home on account of some disagreements and goes back to her father's or brother's household)," Museveni says.

"When she arrived at their home in Rwenchweera, she told them that by the time she left, Kaguta's wife had been taken to the hospital to deliver. Then after a few days, information came that Kaguta's (Museveni's father) wife had delivered and the month was September not August," Museveni further recollects.

Museveni then concluded that September 15, is the most probable date of birth. Museveni was reportedly born in Mbarara hospital but he says they had no records when he crosschecked.

"What a shame for somebody who was born in a government hospital to fail to know his date of birth, all on the account of faulty record keeping and storage."

Museveni never laboured to write about his date of birth in the first edition of Sowing the Mustard Seed which was first published in 1997.

In the recent years, Museveni has been having low profile events to mark his birthday either in church or with the family. In 2015, Museveni celebrated his birthday by attending morning prayers at Mount Zion Prayer Centre, Bukalango and in 2016 he shared a cake with his family.

Last year in August, Museveni celebrated his 70th baptism day at St Luke Church of Uganda, Kinoni archdeaconry in Rwampara, Mbarara district. According to church records disclosed during the celebration, Museveni was baptized on August 3, 1947, with his mother and father.

Opposition politicians have for a long time contested Museveni's probable date of Museveni, arguing that he under-reported his age. In 2011 for instance, Democratic Party youth wing - Uganda Young Democrats wanted to organize a birth party for Museveni claiming that he was born on December 4, 1937.

This is for real, if jajja Museveni was baptized in August 1947 as per Church records indicate, then jajja can't have been born by 1944 as he assumes.

Why? Child baptism wasn't practiced that time as it's today. Baptisms were done for candidates from 15 years above.

Check Church of England historical records and the Catholic church records too. By estimates jajja must have been between 12 to 15 years old when he was baptized.

Therefore taking 12 years as our minimal estimate, jajja is about 86 years old! You are free to dispute me with evidence based on Church of Uganda baptism practices by 1947

Sceptical about the authenticity of this imagined age.

The likely truth is that this guy is much older than the given age because those years churches didn't baptise children as is the case today.

Children born of polygamous couples weren't baptized. Children from unwed marriage weren't baptized either. How did he got baptized at age of three?

Mubiru, thanks!

Your worries as to what Buganda is doing is God's figt for Buganda, even when Mengo doesn't see it & goes ahead blindly helping hand over the country to Museveni finally!

Acholi tribal leader & Acholi who joined the demon kiss his behind for destroying them & now, like Buganda, Acholi tribal leader is praying for Museveni to own Uganda then sell Amuru to China!

Yet, when Museveni will be have full control of Uganda, Buganda & Acholi will be the first to be dealt with & made to understand to who the country belonges, before the other tribes are dealt with!

As there is no common acceptable National opposition leader, the wise thing for Buganda & Acholi to do is form Independenty States & NOW, before Museveni completes conquest of the country!

Yet, the most logic for a normal people would be UNITY against a demon who wants to own their country & not help him!

Wooden K. says :
" I do not like this habit of Baganda attacking Baganda all the time"

Me too !!!

Furtunately , this type of Baganda bashing is considered expired by people who have brains; it is not based on facts, neither can it be proved that other do better.

It is a fact that most members of the opposition are Baganda or from Buganda.

It is a fact that many of the "NRm rebels" plus those NRM who refused to vote for the life presidency are Baganda or from Buganda.

It is a fact that all 3 MP that were tortured and are now getting medical care abroad are Baganda.

It , therefore , cannot be a fact that Baganda do not have principals or that Baganda cannot fight for what they believe in.

True , Kamya and Nakiwala went missing and re-surfaced as the the Dictators cheer laders, but what about Anywar , Obote`s daughter -in-law and Among ?

In other words, because he can't find his feet, he will soon start falling on his teeth like Bob Mugabe.

E.g. on Saturday, after his repetitive, long-winding and meaningless speech, I saw Mr. M7 got up, staggered and plodded away to his bed like someone from a marwa joint.

Wew!

In other words, in performing certain duty it is foolishness not know one's "age limit" and/or limitation.

Ordinarily, the older one becomes, the wiser, loving and virtuous one should be. But not for Mr. M7: the older he becomes the more vulgar and vicious he becomes .

Instead of groping in the dark, looking for when he was born, what would Mr. M7 lose if he told the whole wide world; that does not know when he was born?

For heaven's and hell's sake, it is not his fault not to know when he was born. There billions of people who do not know when they were born.

What difference does it make? Like Adam, Eve and many before them, all will one day drop dead and be forgotten.

It is foolish to try and impress others with what we don't have. I just wish one day Mr. M7 finds the relief, beauty and bliss (peace of mind) of honesty.

Happy birthday HE Excellency Yoseri Tibuhaburwa Buzariranwa Kayibanda-Rutabasirwa (his true name).

Time is long past for retirement -- he must go peacefully as the best choice -- but if unwilling, he can expect only one option: to be shown the door rudely and soon.

The choice is his...and time is running out fast.

MAKE UGANDA GREAT AGAIN!
