Teenager held over pistol, 55 rounds of ammunition

The pistol found in the teenager's house
Jinja police are holding 19-year-old boy for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The teen, Bazilio Gimeyi, a resident of Wanyange East Cell in Bugembe town was picked up in an operation conducted on Sunday for being a rogue. He called his sister whose identity has been withheld to pick money from his house.

It was during the search for the money that Gimeyi's sister landed on a pistol and 55 rounds of ammunition under his bed. Moses Dobo, the chairperson Wanyange East Cell, says Gimeyi has a group of boys who neither study nor work but live lavish livestyles.

"I have complained to police about Gimeyi's lifestyle because he commands a crew of young boys who neither go to school nor work but spend the whole day drinking and smoking marijuana, which is threatening the security in my area," Dobo says.

Gimeyi claims he is a scrap dealer and that he bought the pistol from a friend who is being hunted by police. Diana Nandawula, the Kiira Region police spokesperson, says investigations are ongoing to arrest more suspects.

"Gimeyi had earlier on been arrested on charges of being a rogue with two other colleagues. But while being in custody in Bugembe police station, the sister came to visit him and instructed the sister to pick money from his house. And in the process of his sister looking for money, she found this gun and informed police that found the gun with 55 rounds of ammunition." Nandawula said.

Nandawula also says they have registered success in fighting gun related crime, adding that they have recovered three guns in a month's time.

In other words, the way things are done in this country; will this thug be tried in the Military General Court Martial and thereafter terrorism and treason in the civil court?

Just asking.
