Bebe Cool forced off stage, 'saved' from angry mob at Lugogo

Singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool faced it rough yesterday at Jamaican artist, Tarrus Riley's concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Bebe Cool, the self-claimed 'Big Size' who is very close to President Yoweri Museveni and is a known critic of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, was saved by police from angry revellers who hurled at him bottles, plastic chairs and other objects.

As soon as Bebe Cool took to the stage at Lugogo, revellers started shouting ‘vaayo, vaayo’ (go away), calls the adamant musician ignored forcing the organisers to switch off his mic and lights.

With his hands stretched out, Bebe Cool invited the angry revellers who were now chanting pro-Bobi Wine and ‘People Power’ slogans to continue to assault him and they willingly obliged.

They hurled bottles, glasses, plastic chairs at the singer. Sensing life-threatening danger, police forcefully lifted Bebe Cool off the stage. He was the only curtain-raising artist to get such treatment.

Bebe Cool attacked Bobi Wine's supporters for their 'blind support' to the point of even falsely accusing government of torturing the legislator. He said other artists showing support to Bobi Wine like Jose Chameleone are "cowards" and "opportunists" but for him, he won't relent.

"What don't you have? What kind of of freedom are you seeking for? You even have the freedom to stone Bebe Cool and the president's convoy. The war is now on, if you thought war is fought from the bush, it is fought from the streets. Wait you will see. I will show. The war is now on. There is no country that has as much freedom as Uganda." he said.

"You all said Bobi Wine was brutally tortured by the state but he came out only after one week without a single scar on his face. Can a wound heal within a week? Bobi Wine is confusing the youth like we artists have been doing in the last 20 years and some of us we shall not allow that to happen. You all think Bobi Wine is in hospital? He is seeking attention...Let CNN write that crowds have stoned Bebe Cool." he added.

This is the second such incident within a week that has befallen Bebe Cool. The singer was last week booed during his performance at Club Ambiance in Kampala over his comments against ‘People Power’ political movement, a brainchild of Bobi Wine.

While performing at Club Ambiance, Bebe Cool told the revellers to "start working instead of protesting for people [Bobi Wine] who were earning from your efforts."

This was at the height of countrywide protests triggered by Bobi Wine's brutal arrest and alleged torture by state operatives.

Bobi Wine alongside 32 others were arrested on allegations of stoning President Museveni's convoy in Arua district on August 13.

Bobi Wine was initially charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in an army court and remanded to Makindye military barracks, but the charges were later dropped following internal and external pressure.

He was subsequently, like the other suspects now known as the #Arua33, charged with treason in the Magistrate's court in Gulu.

Although the suspects were granted bail this week, Bobi Wine's supporters are still angry with the government for blocking the legislator from flying abroad for treatment and the brutal treatment of citizens during protests. Under pressure, government yesterday evening eventually allowed Bobi Wine to fly to the US for further treatment.

Another legislator, Francis Zaake also arrested in Arua and allegedly tortured is yet to be cleared by government to travel to India for treatment after being referred by Lubaga hospital.

gwok, agreed!

Especially as it's Ugandans fighting themselves while Museveni has no one to throw him out of State House & out of Uganda too!

Ugandans MUST stop working against themselves only to keep Museveni in power, but MUST UNITE so that the demon has no one to use against them!

The root cause of evil played in the country is Museveni; unless he is thrown out in UNITY, he will continue using Ugandans against one another/Ugandans will fight to have hand outs from the demon who will be in power till he dies of old age beyond 90 years of age!

Rajab Kakyama, thanks!

Museveni has tortured-terrorised-spat on Ugandans long enough & if our people continue getting at one another to show rejection of the demon, then they are only helping him destroy themselves further!

Ugandans are getting at one another for supporting Museveni & forget it's also them used by the dictator against one another!

What if Ugandans make the difference by UNITING against Museveni & throw him out to stop him using them against one another?

There is a lot of anger in Ugandans, yet it's directed at Ugandans themselves, the very people whose UNITY is the only thing needed to throw Museveni out!

Who is figfhting Museveni when Ugandans fight themselves to ensure Museveni is safe in power with tax as his pocket money & the country his?

Zaitun, agreed!

This is why tribal leaders MUST stand down & Ugandans MUST UNITE to throw Museveni out & give chance to their children in a country/tribal states where 'life-respect-' is upheld!

As it is, either it's Museveni using Ugandans against one another, or it's Ugandans getting at one another!

Who is getting at Museveni?
