Anti-porn body set to arrest six

Nine months into office, the pornography control committee (PCC) says it has finalized arrangement to begin arresting suspected offenders this week.

Speaking to The Observer on June 3, PCC chairperson, Dr Annette Kezaabu, said the committee has so far resolved to arrest six people, namely: Judith Heard, Lillian Rukundo, a one Shamim, Jack Pemba and the woman who appears in the pornographic video whose facebook names read Honey Suleman, and a police constable in Jinja, Esther Akol.

Dr Annette Kezaabu

“We have compiled their pornographic photos, videos and screenshots that were leaked on social media. We have been described as too ambitious and not working but we are starting with arrests of these people to serve as a deterrent measure,” Kezaabu said.

Yesterday (June 5), Kezaabu appeared at Central police station in Kampala to make final arrangements on how each of the suspects will be arrested, starting today (Wednesday). At least one of the six suspects, Pemba, has tried to approach the PCC seeking a way out but to no avail.

“The lawyer came to plead with us that when he [Pemba] comes, we do not embarrass him by arresting him at the airport. We told the lawyer to go back and the law will take its course. Pemba fled the country but we shall get him,” Kezaabu said.

During the interview, Kezaabu also showed The Observer some of the photos and videos where the culprits are allegedly involved. She, however, declined to show this reporter Judith Heard’s nude pictures, saying: “You are a young lady; these pictures are so disgusting for you to see. Just know we have all the evidence against her.”

The Anti-Pornography Act, 2014 describes pornography as any representation through publication, exhibition, cinematography, indecent show, information technology or by whatever means, of a person engaged in real or simulated explicit sexual activities or any representation of the sexual parts of a person for primarily sexual excitement.

REPORT

Meanwhile, the committee is also compiling a report to prove that Ugandans are being affected by pornography. According to Kezaabu, initial findings indicate that the vice is rampant in school and university-going students, amongst women and people below 40 years.

Ugandans are also being affected severely by corruption and we don't see any zealous arrests.

Why hood wink Ugandans. Get real.

In other words, just like the poor, thieves and murderers, prostitutes and/or pornography will always be with us.

No wonder in Gen 6:5, God regretted having created man. E.g. animals don't engage in prostitution and/or pornography, and kidnapping female animals for ransom.

Eish!

gatashimana, thanks

Even developed countries are now caught up in what they cried out as 'their right of existence, freedom of expression...' as their press-tv...help breed sexual abusers who then go to put in practice what they watch-read... on innocent kids!

The majority of those who watch pornography films-publicities...& get exited are men with children, yet are enticed to hurt/kill/abuse other people's kids!

There are good things we can copy from developed countried, but we MUST not go for their freedom of expression, freedom of living, their kind of democracy that has no limit, because this is what is today their main enemies & threat to children!

Pornography should NEVER be accepted by any decent society that wants to protech children from abuse!

Lakwena, thanks!

The world cries out for democracy, peace, decency, respect, child protection..., yet it's the same world that legalises things that threaten what they what to protect "innocence, humanity, children"!

How can we expect men who pas hours watching pornography to respect a lonely child, now that not only girls are sexually abused, but boys too?

I often wonder why God has not got mad & blown us all off! How can God be so patient with humans defying Him day in day out?

Ugandans have the chance, through UNITY, to throw Museveni out, then put in place the kind of governance they want & do the right things to protect their children & everybody!...

...No depraved has the right to impose pornograpy on developing countries!

Developed world has perverted God's principles to a point they believe it's their right to do so, through technology, outside their bounderies & we go along like idiots, brainless!

In developed countries, no child goes out to play alone or are found sexually abused, dead! The lates was in France where a man grabbed a 9 year old girl at marriage celebration & no one saw what it, until months of intense investigations lead back to the county hall where the marriage celebration took place & dogs lost the trace of the girl at parking lot: but car wash camera helped because a man spent hours washing his car - thanks to science, the girls dna was found in a tight coner water/detergent couldn't reach!

Ugandans MUST become actors in their country & give chance to thier children!

What nonsense .. American children go out and play alone and with other children all the time and it is perfectly safe here .. no one worries about a stranger taking a child it is so rare a thing to happen
