US Ambassador Malac regrets Trump's ‘shithole' comments
- Written by The Observer Team

The United States Ambassador to Uganda Deborah Malac has described as 'disturbing' and 'upsetting', disparaging comments about immigrants from Africa, made by US President Donald Trump.
Trump was recently quoted as having used vulgar and disparaging remarks about immigrants from countries in Africa and Haiti, saying his country, the U.S. should welcome more immigrants from countries like Norway that offer better trade and commercial partnerships. He was speaking during an Oval Office meeting with lawmakers.
The meeting was discussing protecting immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal.
"Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" Trump reportedly said before suggesting that the United States should instead take in more people from countries such as Norway, and be open to more immigrants from Asian countries.
Meeting speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga today morning, US Ambassador to Uganda Deborah Malac referred to Trump's comments about the African continent as unfortunate, disturbing and upsetting.
Kadaga had asked Malac the meaning of the comments made by Trump in reference to African countries.
"Its unfortunate comment, yes, obviously for people like me and many of my colleagues who have spent many years working in Africa, have many relationships and friendship across the continent. Obviously quite disturbing and upsetting as I know Africans themselves felt," Malac said.
Malac, however, assured Kadaga that they remain engaged and committed to working, not just in Uganda, but in all the other countries on the continent and that they will continue to improve lives of Ugandans.
She added that she tries not to get distracted since they have important work to do in the country and that together with the government and the people of Uganda, they will ensure that peace continues.
"Yes, obviously it is disturbing and upsetting, so we have been trying to refocus our efforts and energies. It is a new year, we have lots of programs, and so that’s what I intend to do and see how we’ll continue to make progress", Malac added.

Non.
In other words, compared, unlike ours (boot-lickers); the American Diplomats are "public servants".
They transcend political party/appointing authority and/or bias (national in character).
That is how Her Excellency Malac can, without fear of backlash, can boldly save the Americans' faces from Trump's executive and diplomatic goof (disturbing' and 'upsetting', disparaging comments) .
You always try to put down your home country while getting excuses for you 'bootlikees'(I hope you get the meaning).
Sometimes you should keep quiet. Whatever you do or say, you will never become one of them You will always be that person who will be buried you know where.
And Uganda under President Museveni is one damned shithole no matter what the ambassador and the many Africans with faux pride may try to say.
It is hard to agree with Dotard Trump. But in this case I do.
How hypocrite-insensitive US Ambassador is!
Is she holding shit USAid biscuit to show how museveni has made Uganda a self reliant country, yet Ugandans need such shitAid from USA?
What is there for Ugandans to be proud of & join her in condemning Dr.Trump & not museveni?
What would happen if D.Trump turns USA into shithole as museveni did Uganda?
But, shithole Uganda is only so for Ugandans, while the Ambassador lives so well & turns blind eyes-deaf ears to sufferings-oppression of Ugandans by demon museveni!
The longer museveni goes on oppressing-enslaveing Ugandans, the better Uganda is for US Ambassador living paradise in shithole Uganda & she wants Ugandans to perish, just like museveni does!
This is why the Ambassador should have had the decency of just staying quiet or asked US president to call her back home, because now, she is open enemy of suffering Ugandans under demon museveni!
It's only human that any one makes the difference between bad & good, moral & immoral...: you did just that & this makes you more human than US Ambassador who enjoys sufferings of Ugandans, unaware that D.Trump could never be so so cruel to Aamericans & enslave them as demon dictator museveni does with Ugandans!!!
Who is US Ambassador representing if not museveni?
What a waste of US tax money on this woman who works to promote dictatorship instead of helping US president help oppressed-enslaved-poor-sick Africans fight to bring good rule!
US Ambassador is not aware museveni rules through a tribalistic system while D.Trump does through real democracy with opposition-court-house of representatives...working for americans & not for USA president, while every institution in Uganda MUST work for museveni, including parliament!
What peace when;
- opposition is not accepted by museveni,
- tribal leaders made to understand they are there to keep Ugandans tribally divided & that's all they must do,
- parliament belongs to museveni just as court!
Ambassador, is this the case with US president?
Would Americans be at peace if they were ruled as museveni does?
What are you still doing in Uganda as USA diplomat, when you don't respect your own president?
I disagree. The use of epithets like "shithole" and "biological substances" is intended to debase, dehumanize and rationalise how and why the bully treats his/her targeted victims: shutting them out of the USA or suffocating them inside a train wagon.
Enabling despots to have a choke hold on the continent--even as you pursue policies that are warming the earth at an unprecedented pace and pushing people away from their habitat, and signing bi-lateral trade agreements to supply weapons that are maiming and killing children, women and men from Afghanistan to Syria to Yemen--is diabolical.
The good ambassador may have expressed a personal opinion (as an Obama's appointee) but not based on the current State Department under Trump.
The Observer, learn how to ask tough questions and do investigation sometimes.
Now, the US envoy in Uganda is siding with a fellow Democratic senator not her President, hmm!
Well, if I were this envoy I would have resigned instead of working under an embarrassing administration I despise.
The mother of ironies: the president of the 's..t hole' republic agrees with the envoys boss. Muky. Deborah Malac, take a cool aid.
