DPP apologises for delays in Nyanzi’s “pair of buttocks” case

Dr Stella Nyanzi in court earlier

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mike Chibita has apologised for the delays in the prosecution of a case, in which Makerere University researcher, Dr Stella Nyanzi is accused of referring to President Museveni as "pair of buttocks."

Senior state prosecutor, Nelly Asiku told the Buganda Road court Magistrate James Eremye Mawanda on Tuesday that the delay of Nyanzi's case is regrettable.

"The DPP didn't intend to delay the matter but because of the industrial action, he has not been able to come up with a decision", Asiku told court. Nyanzi is charged with offensive communication and cyber harassment under the Computer Misuse Act 2011.

The charges stem from a facebook post early last year on Nyanzi's wall, in which she described Museveni as ‘a pair of buttocks’. On July 21, 2017, Nyanzi's lawyer, Isaac Semakadde wrote to the DPP asking him to drop the charges, saying the law provides for feedback within a period of not more than sixty days.
In his ruling yesterday, Magistrate Eremye acknowledged that there hasn't been a response from the DPP since the application was given to Jonathan Muwaganya, one of the state attorneys to deliver to the DPP. Eremye however, blamed the delay on the recent country-wide prosecutors strike.

"I want to agree that the industrial action has affected the accused. It's evidenced by the way she reacts, but the sixty days only apply when the ruling has been fixed', said Eremye.

He adjourned the matter to February 20 to allow the DPP come up with his response in regards to Nyanzi's application to withdraw the charges and so as to fix the date for hearing.

Dr Nyanzi isn't new to controversy. In 2016, she stripped naked and used obscene language to protest a decision by Prof Mahmood Mamadani, the director of Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR) to evict her from her office after she refused to teach.

She filed a suit on July 28, 2017, Nyanzi through the Center For Legal Aid (CLA), challenging government’s actions of clandestinely placing her name on a “no-fly list,” confiscating her passport on March 19 and subsequently ignoring her administrative complaint about her mistreatment at Entebbe International airport. Nyanzi was banned from travel following her acerbic Facebook posts against both President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni.

So Dr Stella Nyanzi is fighting a war that all Ugandans should, alone!!!

The shithole called Uganda is top on lists in oppressing the truth, starving people even when, without Unity of Ugandans, there is no danger to museveni!

Which body works for Ugandans today & not just for museveni? The self styled god is only happy when Ugandans just go along being oppressed while slaving for him!

And why is Dr Stella Nyanzi, still before court when museveni has no opposition to his demoniac rule in the shithole any more?

In what way is lonely Dr Stella Nyanzi, as lonely Dr Besigye was, a danger to the demon's lifetile ruler who has Ugandans working in peacfe to ensure his continuity?

If Uganda is not a shithole, then what is it?

It's time Ugandans reject chief tribal leader museveni, more so he has no tribal land in Uganda & has no right to make us so shameful by ruling & oppressing us through a tribalistic system!

Just Unity & the demon will be out, unless Ugandans still want him, which means the outside world will continue being silent & unconcerned on what goes on in Uganda & how museveni treats them!

Lakwena, agreed!

When D.Trump says nothing about miseries museveni causes to Ugandans while manoeuvering to own the country, this is OK!

But when D.Trump uses the right harsh word we need to hear to wake us up to take our future in our hands, make our country home & not shithole, this makes him a bad leader!

Ah, for +30 years, Acholi tribal leader turns deaf ears-blind eyes to sufferings of Acholi under museveni, yet calls himself "Acholi tribal leader", but no one says this is inhuman!

Not to forget the same Acholi tribal leader well looked after by museveni, never payed visit to Acholi refugees confined in UN camps in Uganda!!!
