Movie review: Hellboy swoops in to save mankind

This action fantasy film follows Hellboy, a half-demon-half-human agent for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D), an agency tasked with investigating paranormal events, who gets caught in a battle between the worlds of the supernatural and humans when an ancient sorceress, Nimue, believed to have been destroyed, resurrects in present-day London.

Bent on revenge, she assembles an army of ghoulish beings to eradicate mankind and build a new Eden for her creatures of the dark in Britain. Hellboy questions his life’s purpose amidst the destructive forces that seek to wipe out the things he cherishes, and fights to discover his life’s calling.

A reboot of the Hellboy film series, the film casts David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Mass, The Equalizer), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, The Three Musketeers), Daniel Day Kim (The Good Doctor, Hawaii Five-0) and Ian McShane (American Gods, John Wick: Chapter 2).

Hellboy premieres this Friday at Century Cinemax, Acacia mall – Kamwokya.
