Many Ugandan artistes would be willing to part with some shillings, just for a chance to perform with American R&B great Ginuwine, in the audience.
Clearly, Ugandan rapper, Shafik Walukagga aka Fik Fameica is not one of them. Last week during the unveiling of the swanky La Parouis bar and restaurant on Parliamentary Avenue, the musician left patrons disgusted when he finally put in an appearance at midnight, only to spend more time demanding for an upfront payment before he could entertain guests that included Ginuwine, Tshaka Mayanja, Eddy Kenzo and others.
MC Patrick ‘Salvado’ Idringi had announced Fameica’s late arrival and the DJ played some of his songs for him to lip-sync to, but the artiste was still bargaining for pay with the bar’s management.
Some patrons left in anger, and by the time the Sconto singer’s pay was settled, only a few revellers remained and they too paid him little attention. In attempt to redeem the night, Salvado asked Fameica to perform on top of a table to get some attention.
That seemed to work as the remaining few warmed up to him and seemed to be having a good time. Still, it was Ginuwine, Fameica; Ginuwine!
