The Color Purple makes comeback to cinema

The Color Purple is a musical period drama that adapts the 1982 novel of the same name.

The previous adaptation was a Steven Spielberg film that came out in 1985. This time, Spielberg is a producer, along with Oprah Winfrey, Quincy Jones, and Scott Sanders.

The Color Purple follows a woman’s struggle for independence through the decades. The director (Blitz Bazawule) made the musical film Black is King alongside Beyonce. His latest project has an 83 per cent critical rating and a 95 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, so clearly, people love it.

Although, some viewers have criticized the movie for being too bleak. You can watch The Color Purple in cinemas today. If you prefer less depressing entertainment, Halo Season 2 is available on Paramount+. The first two episodes aired on February 8.
