Organisers of the second edition of Sports Journalists Choice Awards (SJCA) have set December 15 for the crowning of the outstanding individuals.
The awards focus on rewarding excellence in sports journalism. The ultimate aim is to foster individual growth and improved coverage of key issues within sport.
Now in their second year, the Sports Journalists Choice Awards acknowledge and recognise the work of Ugandan sports journalists who excel in reporting sport across print, digital, television and audio mediums as well as photography and are based in Uganda. Entries closed on November 30 and all that is left is the judging and unveiling of the winners.
According to Leon Senyange, the brains behind the event, there are several changes from last year.
“This year, SJCA has increased categories to 10 from the inaugural five in order to reach out to all stakeholders in sports journalism,” he said.
Some of last year’s winners include David Isabirye, Elvis Senono and CBS FM’s Diane Bagala.
