UCU play KCCA in Game II

After losing 57-65 to UCU Ladies on Sunday, KCCA Leopards will be desperate to bounce back when the two teams face off tonight in game two of the National Basketball League best-of-seven playoff final series.

The game tips off at 7pm at YMCA courts in Wandegeya. It will be a tall order for KCCA who are missing Martha Soigi due to injury. On Sunday, KCCA struggled on offence and defence without Soigi.

KCCA’s Halima Nabusimba concurs: “Soigi usually scores most points for us and stops the opposition. In game one, UCU’s centre Vilma Achieng dominated us because she had no match. We must give 120% to make up for her absence.”

However, UCU’s Zainah Lokwameri disagrees, arguing KCCA still have strength with post players such as Larisa Katungeko, Hilda Naigaga and Jackie Basemera to compete favourably.

Nonetheless, the Mukono-based UCU outfit will be determined to stretch their lead in the series as they aim to make it three successive league titles.
