Kisubi Old Boys football league matches rage on

The St Mary’s College Kisubi (Smack) old boys will converge this Sunday at the Makerere University Business School (Mubs) ground for match-day eight of their football league.

The league, which started last year, comprises of 16 teams, representing different years for the old students from 1993 to 2014. It is an initiative that took effect in order to bring the old students together in different aspects, benchmarked on networking through which different services can be acquired and rendered for community growth.

However, the football league is to be played on the One Family theme. So far, 600 old boys have participated. Moses Tumusiime of the 2007 Smack class,  who doubles as chairman of the league, said football brings old boys  together and  also  provides an opportunity to improve people’s lives.

Dennis Lutaaya of the 1997 class, famously known as Maama Teo football team, said that this Smack old boys’ union, provides business opportunities, too, through the interactions. It is a real family day-out with lots to drink and eat. The main menu has nine matches, played for 80 minutes each.

Rejuvenated Alks (2007) take on Flying Mafias (2011) in the opener. Zimbaz (2006)play against Outkasts (2005), Devils (2004), who are the defending champions and current leaders, battle Pirates, the 2012 class team. The Tsunamiz (2010) play Kiama (2000) while  Window (2003) will be up against  the Bushmen (2001).

The Block Owners (2002) face the Cyclones (2013) while the Vendors (2009)will take on the Zuluz (1999), among others. Matches kick off as early as 9.30am.
