Uganda's Footballer of the Year Muhammad Shaban netted the lone goal as Uganda Cranes defeated Slovenia 1-0 in a closed door international friendly played last evening in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Onduparaka FC striker came on as a second half substitute to net the winning goal at the Sheik Zayed stadium against a team ranked 51st in the world rankings.
"I am happy that my players are really working hard and every player is fighting for his number. Facing Slovenia was a good experience," said coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic.
After the 2-0 loss to Tunisia on Wednesday, the victory over Slovenia has helped boost the team's morale as they prepare for two other international friendly matches against Slovakia and African champions Ivory Coast.
The Cranes are preparing for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) which takes place January 14 to February 5 in Gabon. Uganda are in pool D alongside Ghana, Egypt and Mali.
