Earlier this month, a group of dedicated Ugandans embarked on a walk from Kigali to Kampala on foot.
Dubbed Water Walk, the 24-day journey was geared towards creating awareness as well as garnering funds to provide clean water to the disadvantaged places in Rwanda and Uganda.
The walk, alongside other activities like Art Creates Water and the We Love YoUganda festival, are initiated by Viva Con Agua – an open network of people and institutions connected with an aim of providing clean water.
Through Art Creates Water, the team has turned Design Hub, a creative space in the Industrial area, into Kampala’s first-ever Millerntor gallery showcasing art curated by Ronnie Tindi of the Angavu art studio. Tindi is also a partner of Viva Con Agua.
Art pieces from more than 60 multi-discipline artists are meant to be sold, and proceedings will be channeled to support the projects of Viva Con Agua.
But today, the We Love YoUganda music festival is on. It will be climaxing the walk that started at the beginning of the month.
The festival will be headlined by both local and international artistes like Ashenafi from Ethiopia, Giovanni Kremer Kiyingi, Maro and Kenya’s Octopizzo, among others. Tickets will go for Shs 5,000, while gates will open at 5pm.
