Do not expose the man to possible temptation. Therefore I would hire a house-help who is not good looking. Imagine if she was pretty and I am away on a working trip, the man can easily develop ideas unlike in situations when the maid is all a mess and shabby throughout. Looks attract people most.

Evelyn Namirimu, 20, Student
Beauty varies from individual to individual. However, I think a good looking maid adds value to the home in the sense that guests would like to enter a home where they are received by a smiling person with good morals and virtues. And even the children would normally like a pretty person to groom them. The man’s security does not really matter regardless of how the maid looks.

Faith Mbabazi, 21, student
I do not mind hiring a pretty looking house-help provided she can do the house work well. It will not matter what she may look like because a cheating man would always go for another woman even when she is not prettier than the wife. It is about self-discipline in a man and not because when you hire a cute maid, you have exposed him to temptation.

Michael Bahati, 28, Radio Producer
Who am I to choose who looks good or not? Do I look good? I do not think God wants us to judge his creation. In that case, a house-help is someone who can work and not one who is fit for a beauty pageant.

Rachel Nakiwala, 21, Student
The best thing to do is make the maid look lousy the moment she enters your home. Do not allow her to apply make-up and all the things that can enhance her beauty like short-skirts and lipstick especially if you do not trust your man.

Lyn Turyagyenda, 20, Student
Men are hard to trust in either circumstance and therefore I would not stress myself searching for an ugly house maid because I am worried about him extending his hands on a beautiful maid. Actually the only solution for me is hiring a man for a house help to eliminate any temptation for him. Because for me I cannot resist temptetion.

Dickson Zizinga, 34, Actor
Beauty matters a lot. I have seen pretty maids who disorganize neighbours and male relatives that visit one’s home. Therefore it would be better if one picked a house-help that will not attract a lot of attention, let alone mix the man of the home’s emotions.

Stephen Olet, 26, Banker
I would just hire a house-help for their ability to do home chores and not their looks. Anyone has to exercise a high degree of self-control and if I considered a house-help’s beauty as a hindering factor from hiring her, it would be an admission that we do not trust each other as a couple.

Joan Alupo, 22, Student
What I would look for in a house-help is ability to do the work in my home. How she looks is not an issue to me and I am not going to pick her with my husband in mind. Whether she is a beautiful or ugly chic, the man can mess with her if he wants.

Joshua Kateregga, 31, Actor
I would not pick a very pretty house-help in order not to expose myself to problems. Couples in Europe normally get house-helps that normally have their husbands and children and therefore only come to work and would not easily tempt them. Let us be sincere, do not put yourself in a situation that will compromise you or your wife.

Henry Atugonza, 22, Computer Scientist
For me it is about getting someone who can work and whether they are pretty or not, it would not influence my choice of a house-help.
