NBS television has started an agribusiness show which it says will not only tell stories of the successful farmers but also delve into policy issues affecting the sector.
The show, hosted by former news anchor Bushra Namirimu, has received good reception since it started airing last month, the company said.
Prominent farmers such as Dr Emma Luyima, a veterinary doctor who owns a small- scale farm on one acre of land off Entebbe road, has already featured.
Luyima is an embodiment of a modern farmer – growing matooke, onions and fish farming. Mathias Kirungi, a passion fruit farmer in Zirobwe, has also featured.
Agribusiness has also featured Rosebud farm off Entebbe road, the largest exporter of flowers from Uganda as well as Agro Genetics Technologies in Buloba, where new technology called tissue culture is being used to multiply banana seeds.
Pamela Adongo, the NBS TV chief marketing officer, said: “[We are] giving successful farmers and entrepreneurs a platform to share their stories and encourage others... It is our hope our viewers gain from the information shared on the show.”
